- Hermitage Castle -

Known as the "the guardhouse of the bloodiest valley in Britain". I found this supposedly haunted castle on a fittingly eerie foggy day. The site of numerous murders, treachery and even witchcraft, this hulking grey mass of stone still stands tall despite its colourful history; as foreboding as it ever was in its prime.

- Loch Torridon from Beinn Alligin -

Took the opportunity this long weekend to return to the simply magical Torridon region in the northwest highlands and once again it did not dissapoint!

Had a fantastic day hiking up Beinn Alligin and it's neighbour Beinn Dearg; both hills offering absolutely stunning vistas in all directions.

More photos to come!

Sometimes you just find yourself at the right place at the right time...

Very lucky to experience stunning conditions today in the Cheviot hills. Just shows it’s always worth bringing the camera along on a hike!

- Cessford Castle -

Very lucky to have such an atmospheric landmark just a stones throw away from my doorstep!

There is a very eerie feeling to it, a real sense of history. Once the home of the Kers of Cessford, an (in)famous Border Reiving family, it was once the focal point for family feuds and Scotland-England skirmishes.

Now it rests quietly atop a hill overlooking the surrounding villages of Morebattle and Cessford. Despite its dilapidated state, its no less commanding than it ever was.

- Stob Bàn from Sgúrr a' Mhàim, Mamores, Fort William -

Getting views like this justifies lugging my camera all the way up the mountains!

Had a brilliant couple of days hiking in the Mamores; Ben Nevis' no less distinguished neighbours. Very lucky to get crisp clear weather and just enough snow to add character to the peaks. Stob Bàn means 'White Peak' and on this occasion it certainly lived up to its name!
