Visual Effects Supervisor on Terrifier 2 & 3

The Creative Connection Episode 8

Now Available on YouTube (soon on all audio platforms).

We are back with a brand new episode of the creative connection with Visual Effects Supervisor, Joshua Petrino to talk about his career in visual effects, how he got started and working on the incredible horror movie franchise, Damien Leone’s Terrifier.

We talk things all things horror, the differences in the levels of effects, what are practical effects and clear up some misunderstandings with the post-production side of filmmaking.

Joshua Petrino was visual effects supervisor on Terrifier 2 & 3.

When you see the Art the Clown sticker appear, we have carefully taken out what could be considered spoilers for Terrifier 3.

Hosted by me, Alexander Blackburn and Filmmaker Ian Rayburn.

The Remus 35mm Super35 1.5x Anamorphic Lens

I’ve been in love with the anamorphic looks since I was young and wondering how movies (especially older ones) looked a certain way.

For years I’ve dreamed of shooting with such optics and in the last year or so the options have exploded onto the production market. Some bad, some good and even some that are great. Prices vary with these types of lenses and thankfully .official have come up with a range of obtainable anamorphic lenses that have natural/organic looking flares, lovely looking barrel distortion and everything else associated with the anamorphic character of the past, just in a modern form factor and build.

I purchased the Greatjoy/Blazar 50mm 1.8x anamorphic lens previously, but it’s a little bigger than I wanted to work with and the new Remus range are in such a sweet spot for me.

This is not a sponsored post at all, I’m just happy that a company has created such lovely products such as these lenses.

Paired with filters and on a camera, this is the perfect setup for me and myself and are going to create some really great stuff in the future.

The last two shots are filmed with the Osmo Action 3 and Osmo Pocket 3 cameras.

1982 was a damn fine year.

One of the greatest Sci-Fi horror films in John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ was released, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial which becomes the highest-grossing film of the decade; the 1982 FIFA World Cup is held in Spain and is won by Italy; Michael Jackson releases his sixth studio album, Thriller, which becomes the best-selling album of all time; Israel invades Lebanon again; Argentina invades Falkland Islands, which starts the Falklands War…

…and I was born on the 14th of August.

It’s Day 6 of filming of the documentary feature ‘Queering Blackpool’, and we’re with and . We spent some time with them talking about their experiences, working and living in and around Blackpool and take in some of the beautiful scenery too. The weather was perfect and we continue on the right foot with our filming.

The first image I’m particularly proud of as a cinematographer, and gave the shoot a bit a a Kodak look for the test colour grade.

‘Behinds the scenes of ‘Queering Blackpool’ (📷 BTS Pictures by , last two by )

Here are some behind the scenes pictures of a small element of our production process as we continue to film ‘Queering Blackpool’.

Working with Helen Eason-Sinkinson as a producer, has been a blast and without her original works, this project wouldn’t have even gotten to this stage.

We’ll be talking about the film, the concept, about the people, Helen and I as a team and what gear has been used so far in the film’s production.

We might even be putting some kind of production/post-production diaries together as we start to look at the last few weeks of filming.
