Unox UK takes partnership with The Burnt Chef Project to new heights

With a group of 25 determined climbers assembling at the base of the UK’s highest mountain, a 10-grid CHEFTOP-X, Unox’s latest state-of-the-art combi oven, weighing more than 140kg, was strapped to a custom-made frame to be carried up the mountain.

TV food issues reporter Kate Quilton joins LACA Main Event line-up.

Following the late withdrawal of full-time GP and best-selling author Dr Amir Khan from the conference programme at LACA’s Main Event (July 3-4), television presenter and journalist Kate Quilton has stepped up to take the keynote session slot.

The 40-year-old is best known for presenting a number of Channel 4 television series, including Food Unwrapped since 2012, with co-presenter Jimmy Doherty.

She will be calling on her knowledge and experience to address the school meals audience on Thursday, July 4 at 3.45pm.

LACA is delighted to announce that Strictly Come Dancing head judge and free school meals advocate Shirley Ballas will be one of the speakers at the upcoming LACA Main Event, which is taking place on 3-4 July at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole.

Shirley Ballas will discuss the importance of free school meals at this year’s LACA Main Event on Wednesday 3rd July at 4.10pm. She will join Michael Hales MIH, the forum chair, in a conversation about the vital need school food provision and the impact on children's lives. To listen to Shirley’s interview you will need to be a delegate at the LACA Main Event.

Health and food experts including Jamie Oliveriver, Gordon Brown, Henry Dimbleby, Michael Marmot and The Food Foundation are calling for the next Government to urgently address the steady decline in children’s health that has been seen in the UK over the last two decades.

A new report from The Food Foundation titled ‘A Generation Neglected: Reversing the decline in children’s health in England’ found the height of five year-olds has been falling since 2013.

Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBE, co-founder of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation wrote in the foreword “This guide aims to equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure the safety of individuals with food allergies. As public sector caterers, you play a crucial role in providing safe and enjoyable dining experiences for everyone, including people with food allergies. So let’s work together to create allergen-aware environments that prioritise the health and well-being of all patrons.”

The guide has been produced by Public Sector Catering who called on the expertise of The Russell Partnership and Hospitality Allergen Support UK (HASUK) for the content.

Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBE, co-founder of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, wrote in the foreword: “Everyone should be able to enjoy food. However, if allergen precautions are not followed, it can have devastating consequences for people with food allergies and their families, as my wife Tanya and I sadly know only too well.
