Alan, my next door neighbour around 1978/1979 in Lochinvar, Salisbury at the time brought back memories. We had moved to Rhodesia as it was called then. We were young children. Pre Zimbabwean independence.
I remember once when Alan's pet dog got sick. Myself, young brother Tendai and other children spent the whole day walking from Lochinvar to the RSPCA in Hatfield and back via Mbare to seek medical attention for Alan's dog. It was truly a long walk. The elder children taking turns to carry the dog.
After spending the whole day on the road I was greeted with a good hiding from my father. This was due to breaking the rule of having to play within the yard fence perimiter 😊. The lashes were painful but well worth it as the dog got better.
Alan later became deeply into reggae and dub music. He was an MC on reggae/dub systems such as Level Vybes in the 80's. I went on to having my disco in the 80's and early 90's called Ultrafunk Disco. Seeing this video of Alan who is now late was a reminder of the time when we were finding a place in this world. MHSRIP. We were all in it for the love.of music. Not for fame or money. Alan shares the history of Zimbabwean sound systems with Mad Minoxx. Discussion was in Shona.
