Now that the confetti has settled on the Platinum Jubbly, we’re looking back at all of the major moments from the big weekend. The Suss*xes returned from California, and even had a special birthday celebration for Lilibet, while the Cambridge kids were front and centre for many of the royal events, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s first walkabout, and a scene-stealing balcony appearance by Prince Louis. Elsewhere, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles paid a visit to Albert Square, and the royals managed to weaponise the universal appeal of Paddington Bear in a video with the Queen. Plus, we discuss the Queen’s partial absence — and Prince Andrew’s total absence — from the festivities, and what it means for the monarchy going forward. Thanks so much to our fabulous Eastenders correspondent Shy Charles, and thank you to everyone who has listened over the past three years.

Lady Gaga said Hold My Hand, and Tom Cruise appears to be taking notes… The movie star made headlines for helping Kate Middleton up the stairs at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London, and also made us wonder why he’s spending so much time around the royals, from red carpet events to private screenings to a jubbly horstravaganza. Elsewhere, the Queen learns how to use an Oyster card, Prince Charles makes his debut in parliament and Prince William gets booed at a football match. Plus, Prince Harry and Meghan are reported to be working on an “at-home” docuseries, and we discuss the “balcony ban” for Trooping the Colour ahead of the big jubbly weekend. Excited to see Australia take a step towards removing the monarchy with the election of new prime minister Anthony Albanese, a long-time supporter of the republican movement. The Labour party said its priority would be a referendum to create a Voice to Parliament for indigenous people – legally enshrining First Nations people in the country’s constitution — and hopefully a referendum on breaking ties with the royals will follow!

It’s a York family special this week: We run through Prince Andrew’s arrival with the Queen at Prince Philip’s memorial service, yet another financial scandal (this time involving Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie) and Fergie’s Instagram posts reminding us of her ex-husband’s glory days as a Falklands War hero. The Queen has made the cover of British Vogue for the first time EVER this month — but she has to share the honour with Anya Taylor-Joy… We’re struck by the choice to use an image of the young Queen rather than a more recent shot, and find it makes for rather a dull cover. No wonder we have yet to see this in any stores, most retailers have only got the Anya cover in stock 👀

The press photographer assigned to cover the service for Prince Philip last week has written a piece for the Times today in which he recounts how palace officials instructed him not to take pictures of the Queen’s entrance with Prince Andrew, banning any photos until she was seated — despite the service being broadcast live on the BBC! The palace eventually capitulated, but we’re left wondering: what were they trying to achieve here? Everyone saw Andrew es**rting the Queen in anyway 🤔 Seems like another case of poor management (and orders that “came from the top”) drawing even more attention to an already messy royal situation…

Hold onto your bonnets — it’s KANTHONY TIME! Looks like Andrew’s royal rehabilitation has hit a snag! The duke, along with his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, have been named in a legal case over a £750,000 scam 😬 The Telegraph reports that the payment transferred into Andrew’s account was described to bankers as a “wedding gift” for his eldest daughter, while Eugenie was also paid £25,0000 as a “birthday gift” — all allegedly on the orders of Selman Turk, who is accused of stealing £40m from Nebahat Evyap Isbilen, a 77-year-old Turkish millionaire.

Isbilen was allegedly tricked by Turk into giving Andrew £750,000 “by way of payment for assistance” with her passport, court documents reportedly show. The money was then transferred to Andrew just days after he handed Turk an award at a Pitch@Palace event.

Andrew has since repaid the £750,000, and there is no suggestion that Beatrice and Eugenie were aware of their dad’s dealings with Turk — yet it’s not a good look for anyone that they’ve been dragged into Andrew’s suspicious financial deals. Even still, we can’t help but think we’ll be seeing Andrew by the Queen’s side again very soon for the jubbly celebrations…

Was this the worst royal tour ever? We’re discussing the Cambridges’ trip to the Caribbean, and why it offers the clearest evidence yet that this generation of royals aren’t capable of modernising the monarchy or sustaining it in the decades to come. From Prince William’s almost hilariously underwhelming speeches to Kate Middleton’s incongruous throwback wardrobe lacking in local designers — not to mention some of the worst photo opps in PR history — we look back on the ultimate royal disastour. Note: we recorded this episode before the Queen’s Covid diagnosis, so weren’t able to discuss here. Instead, we’re focusing on the rough start to her Platinum Jubbly year, kicking off with Prince Andrew. As he reaches a settlement with Virginia Roberts Giuffre, bringing an end to his civil s*x assault case, we run through the big questions. How much is it? Who’s paying? And where is the money coming from? Plus, the Metropolitan Police investigates cash-for-honours claims at Prince Charles’s charity, Prince Harry battles it out with the Home Office in court, and the Queen tries her damndest to protect her big Jubbly party.

Harry and Meghan have weighed in on the Spotify Covid row! A statement from the Archewell Foundation said: “Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all-too-real consequences of Covid-19 misinformation on its platform. We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis. We look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does.” Is this why they haven’t had a new podcast in 13 months? Hear more on tomorrow’s episode
