Pauline Kerekes speaks to scientist and philosopher Jessie Hall about materialism and consciousness, and which criteria can be proposed to define reality. Our discussion focuses mainly on the work of the philosopher David Chalmers and his book ‘Reality+’ published last year.

The theme of this issue is ‘Patterns in Nature’. As humans, we are primed to recognise patterns. From molecular structures to animal behaviour and the movement of planetary bodies, such patterns can be incredibly diverse.

See below for descriptions of the roles and how to apply⬇️

The deadline for applications is this Saturday 10th February⏰

Co-Issue Editor:

You will be sharing the role of Issue Editor with one or more people. Feel free to apply as a team or individually. You will be well supported by the BlueSci Managing Editor and President throughout.

To apply, email up to 300 words on why you’re interested in the role to the Managing Editor, Annabel Cardno, [email protected], by Saturday 10th February⏰

Article Writers and Editors:

Varied and creative interpretations of the theme are encouraged from any scientific discipline. We look to include a breadth of topics within the Issue.

Article types:
9 Feature articles – 1,200 words
1 FOCUS piece – 3,600 words
3 Weird and Wonderful articles – 200 words
3 Reviews of science writing, books, games, products or events – 200 words
