We’ve never been to Waddesdon Manor before and were lucky enough to be invited to experience some of their Christmas festivities. The weather outside truly was freezing (and extremely windy) which only added to the Christmassy feel. The strobe lights from outside the Manor were visible before we even got close to it and only heightened the anticipation. The market was bustling and welcoming, our first Christmas one of the year! There were all kinds of presents to buy, lovely arts and crafts, plus a variety of pickles a plenty.

The projections outside the house were phenomenal; we caught the exciting end of the ‘tale’ with the dragon roaring away and had to stand and watch it anew before we could convince the kids to try the light trail. The light trail was beautiful, with the combination of music and light giving a very peaceful and joyous feeling. My kids loved the interactive lights and spent a good amount of time signing ‘we wish you a merry Christmas’ into the funnels to get the trees to light up. The giant bauble and star were beautiful, and the trees themselves lent their own pretty to the lights.

The boys were clamouring to go to the house to visit the ‘dragon’ and the timed slot we had gave us a good chance to walk around without being caught up in crowd (something I was acutely more concerned about this year). We walked around reading the story of Sleeping Beauty played out in each magnificent room, which were really breathtaking- from the Christmas trees, to the table decorations, each room was stunningly decorated. My eldest sought the golden rose in every room while my youngest loved the sensory boxes, even the ‘horse smell’ one😂.

I have to also mention the people working there who were so very friendly, helpful and accommodating which was a real relief given I was on crutches at the time. The bus drivers helped us on and off the bus, while those in the house quickly offered and coordinated the use of the lift to go up to every level. It was a truly wonderful and magical night and gave us a well needed boost of excitement and energy.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone🥰.

What an amazing night! We were lucky enough to be invited to see ‘Aladdin’ at the Wycombe Swan Theatre and it didn’t disappoint.

We got to watch the magic unfold on stage before getting the chance to see some of the lovely stars up close after and meet some very kind people too. My youngest was a touch overwhelmed at first and cuddled in for a few minutes as Sven Gali took the stage by storm and declared his nefarious schemes to trick Aladdin, but quickly he was swept away by the pantomime too.

There were vibrant colours, dazzling dancers and irrepressible characters galore. There was the sweet romance of Aladdin and Jasmine and the infamous carpet making an appearance too, the diabolical plans of Sven Gali which brought resounding ‘Boos!’ and the shenanigans of the Lankey family- with the fabulous Lola and sons. The vibe was fantastic, everyone singing and dancing when they could. Double entendres were a-plenty with great laughs all around, especially when Vernon Kay, La Voix and Kyle Richardson jazzed up the stage. There were a whole host of other Stars, including young children, who danced and sang their hearts out as they spun an entertaining tale.

It was a lush night and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Asking little C today, he gave it high praise with, ‘It was so so good mummy’ and I believe that truly sums it up.
