I’m trying not to get too ahead of myself because I’m still in the mindset that my life isn’t destined to be spent staring out of a plane window.
That being said, I truly love performing and DJing—it’s who I am and what I’ve lived for all these years. The idea of limiting myself to a 30km island doesn’t sit right with me, even though I deeply value so much of what’s happening on the scene here in Malta. Not all of it, of course, but we’re quite lucky in many ways.
I’ll be kicking off the year in two weeks with a show in Prague, followed by a return to the legendary Ministry of Sound in London—a chance to test myself again. I’ve honestly lost track of how many times I’ve played and headlined at Ministry, but it remains one of the most iconic clubs in the DJ world, and performing there is always something special.

I play a lot in Malta, and while I appreciate the local scene, I have to admit—I miss my international fans. There’s a unique thrill in DJing abroad, connecting with different audiences, and meeting people from all over the world with their diverse cultures and perspectives. Still, I’ll have to see how I handle traveling again.
Even though these upcoming shows are in Europe with short flights, I can’t shake that feeling of unease about going through airports again. It’s hard to explain, but years of constant touring have left me with anything but a “special love” for airports—quite the opposite!

My manager and booking agent, who saw me perform at Rong in Malta last year, has been pushing me to start touring again. He joked about wanting to strangle me for being hesitant, but he also understands the toll that extreme touring has taken on me.
So, Prague and London—see you very soon.

What’s special this time, though, is that I’m also bringing two DJs from Malta to perform at Ministry: Neo-X and Matthew Pomroy. I’ve been supporting these two bad boys 😂 and it’s a real pleasure to see them taking the stage in London.
After that? We’ll see where the journey leads.

With a career spanning nearly three decades covering genres from techno to acid house to minimal, Robert has also been known under the pseudonyms Rob Acid, Acid Warrior, Department of Dance and Sontec amongst many others.He has released a number of well respected records on labels such as Kompakt, Systematic Recordings, Treibstoff, Bedrock, Intec Digital and Steve Bug's Audiomatique, as well his own labels, Junkfood, Babiczstyle and Dirtcut. He is well known as a live performer rather than a DJ, as he uses synths and live equipment and improvises in every set he plays.
