So the Primuz Chamber Orchestra did a live concert 4 years ago in Lodz, Poland which included a rendition of 'Routine' by Steven Wilson. The performance also included the music video that we produced for Steven. It was a wonderful performance by the Primuz Chamber Orchestra and you can see the performance on the following link:

The really exciting news now is that they will be performing 'Routine' again in Lodz in September 2024 and they will also be covering 'Beautiful Scarecrow' along with our music video. The Raven That Refused to Sing....a song by Steven Wilson based on an original story by Hajo Mueller. The music video was produced by Owl House Studios and directed by Jess Cope and Simon CArtwright. Opened a box this morning and discovered 2 Selina heads hiding away - both these heads are actually used on the puppet in different scenes in the 'Routine' music video. The framed photo of Selina's 2 kids on the swing is shown in the video, when she is sat at the piano...see approx. 2.24 minutes into the video and you will see the framed picture on top of the piano.

Just in case you ever wondered.....you all know the story of' David and Goliath', right? Goliath was this huge dude like 9' 9" tall which is about 2.97 metres - anyway, a big guy.
So David was this weedy little bloke, which we would now call the 'underdog'. Goliath had all the height, armour and strength etc and David only wanted his staff, sling and a few stones. Long story short,....David downed the big guy and we all live happier for that fact.
So, Owl House Studios Ltd is the 'David' in the above story - and yes, we fight way above our weight for most of the time and create some good movies etc, but at the same time ( and unlike the biblical analogy) we cannot really compete with the 'Goliaths' in our industry. Fact is, we will always be the small guys.....but hey, what we do is usually very, very good - and long may it be so! Without sugarcoating the story, it is really tough for us to keep on doing what we do, but we will do so for as long as our fee-paying clients want us and you our audience, still appreciate what we do and give us the heads up...x

UPDATE:

I dont want to take this post down but I have just been informed by Jess that this is not the Selina mould… this is actually the mould from our BBC digital Shorts film, The Astronomer’s sun short film which won over 17 awards. Ooops! We will post that film on our YouTube channel soon.

I can’t help but excited about the plethora of unseen items I find in boxes that Owl House Studios has I’m stored up… I will find the correct mould for Selina made by the incredible Beth Jupe, as soon as I find it.

Opening up one of the original plaster moulds for Selina, which we sculpted for the music video 'Routine' for Steven Wilson, is like opening up an egyptian tomb. There is dust and cobwebs and a real sense of discovery ( or maybe re-discovery for us). At the time for Owl House Studios, this was an epic journey into unchartered waters - it was a very challenging experience that was ultimately so rewarding in creative terms. The reality in today's terms is that most music artists cannot afford to provide the budgets required to create a stop-motion video of this magnitude. In this regard, we are forever grateful that Steven Wilson saw the potential for such a collaborative engagement.
Long may it continue......

By the end of this year, Owl House Studios will hopefully be celebrating 50 Million views on YouTube of all the music videos that we have made since 2012 - the very first music video was Drag Ropes, for Storm Corrosion (Steven Wilson & Mikael Åkerfeldt).The story behind the making of that first video is a book in itself and maybe one day we will put together an illustrated full colour book about it.
At the moment our YouTube viewings for music videos are standing at 49.625 million - The videos that we have done for Steven Wilson alone total 22.45 million. That is probably worth another book....

We have had the privilege of working with an American band by the name of Night Wilds and in particular, the multi-talented Seth Micarelli. The debut album is entitled 'All That Should Have Been' and the track that we worked on is called 'Where Do We Go From Here'- The music video was released last week and we are thrilled with the end result.
