Architects of Harmonic Rooms promoted outsider music events and the odd film screening in Leeds in the north of England from the mid 00’s. Outsider Music turned into Insider Music when they discovered the music of Six & Twelve steel string guitar painter Steffen Basho-Junghans. His astonishing ability to conjure up elemental forces, ocean waves and even sunshine from inside of himself and onto his
guitar strings meant that in 2009 Architects of Harmonic Rooms were inspired to add & Records to their name with the release of ‘IS’. A
second SBJ vinyl has been pressed and named ‘The Dancer on The Hill’. This time with Liner Notes from renown music journalist Ken Hunt (Who has previously written liner notes for the likes of Ali Akbar Khan, Bert Jansch, DavyGraham and the Kronos Quartet amongst others). We helped out filming this here trailer for the up and coming Fifth Column Films production about folklore documentist Doc Rowe. Doc Rowe has been documenting the folk traditions of the British Isles since the mid 1960s, and has built up a vast collection of irreplaceable audiovisual material spanning 60 years. It needs digitising and saving for the future! There is a crowd funder please donate.

Starling is a researcher and curator interested in the intersection between place and vision. She’ll be presenting her talk at this years Dreaming Valleys 2 - Talks - Films - Music which explores the 1969 film, The Watchers, filmed partly in the Calder Valley, as a way to open-up discussion on the valley's topography as an optics, a way of seeing.

John Billingsley has been editor of Northern Earth Magazine for decades. We're delighted to announce he will be speaking at this years Dreaming Valleys 2 - Talks - Films - Music. He will be talking about how the notion of psychogeography can be repurposed and combined to generate insights into antiquarian perceptions.
Psychogeography existed before Guy Debord and the urban contexts of Paris and London! I argue that it has a rural backstory in place legends and placenames that express popular impressions of place and changing power structures.

Nikta Mohammadi is an artist and filmmaker with a practice that’s rooted in her dreams. She explores the borders between personal and political, outside and inside, private and public, documentary and fiction.
She will be presenting her film: Windcatcher & Gargoyles at this years Dreaming Valleys 2 - Talks - Films - Music, which follows a rambler, down and up, a twisting staggered path, ending up in strange and unexpected destinations. The work combines elements from Iranian, Islamic and Gothic horror literature together with local myths and legends from Calderdale.
Emily Oldfield will be presenting her talk 'Food and Place in the Calder Valley' at Dreaming Valleys 2 - Talks - Films - Music. She is a writer who has been long-interested in the hidden histories of these Northern counties. Her talk will explore food customs found in these valleys.

'The Alchemist' recut music video goes live in under 1 hour (21:00 GMT). We shot this in some of the first days of Dean McPhee recovering from one of his many bouts of COVID. In hindsight lugging two massive amplifiers, a guitar case, effects pedals, and a generator up to one for the highest summits above Bradford might not have been what the doctor ordered. We must state no dogs, horses or Dean's were harmed in the making of this video.
