This week, the biotech company Moderna will start human trials for its HIV vaccine. Its HIV vaccine will be the first of its kind to use messenger RNA (mRNA), an approach that Moderna used in its effective COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinical trials will start on August 19 and end sometime around spring 2023, according to the National Institutes of Health’s trial registry. They will involve 56 HIV-negative participants aged 18 to 56. The participants will be given one or two forms of mRNA that cause the body to form defenses against HIV infection.

Moderna's HIV vaccine is different from previous ones in a key way that could make all the difference...

A wee while ago, some knobber graffito'd the pub with 'G**z Onley'. We assume it was meant as a badly-spelled jibe but, rather than let it annoy us, we figured we could have some fun with it.

So here we are - for one week only - G**z Onley, (currently) North Fort St's only pop-up Pride bar! 🌈

We'll be celebrating diversity, having a laugh and raising money for The Equality Network, with the help of some fantastic breweries, DJ Jez and Yer Uncle Harry (more on those later in the week).

In the meantime, although the name may suggest exclusivity, we're as inclusive as we've always been. Our policy has always been the same: be whoever you are, you're welcome here (assuming you're not a t**t). Oh, and wear decent slacks, of course.

ScotsGay Since 1994

ScotsGay was set up in December 1994 as a bi-monthly magazine for the le***an, gay and bis*xual community in Scotland. We felt that there was a need for a general-purpose magazine, neither weighted too much towards the scene nor to the arts field. We believe that the success of the magazine reflects the diversity of le***an, gay and bis*xual experiences in Scotland.
