Blackmagic Design today announced DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, a new more affordable color panel for DaVinci Resolve software. Designed in collaboration with the world’s leading colorists, the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel features high quality trackballs and precision machined control k***s for fine tuning primary grading parameters, as well as navigation and transport keys for shortcut commands. The new more portable model features a mounting slot for an Apple iPad Pro, an internal battery and connects via Bluetooth or USB-C.

Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.6.6 update, which adds support for encoding AVC MXF Op Atom formats, allowing you to make quick edits, write in the same format, and export without any loss of quality.
This update also adds improved alpha channel interpretation for QuickTime files. This means media with baked in transparency will now display correctly when being added to your project. There is also better media management of 8K X-OCN clips so they can be trimmed losslessly.

Today Apple announced DaVinci Resolve for iPad as a finalist in the App Store Awards. DaVinci Resolve for iPad has been recognised for creating a more portable editing and color grading experience, helping customers tap into their creativity.
DaVinci Resolve for iPad is the same professional tool, and the same codebase, as used on major Hollywood feature films. Optimized for MultiTouch technology and Apple Pencil, DaVinci Resolve for iPad features support for cut and color pages providing access to DaVinci’s award winning image technology, color finishing tools and latest HDR workflows.
DaVinci Resolve for iPad opens and creates standard DaVinci Resolve project files which are compatible with the desktop version of DaVinci Resolve 18. You can host and store projects using Blackmagic Cloud and collaborate with multiple users all over the world. Supported file formats include H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes and Blackmagic RAW, with clips able to be imported from Blackmagic Cloud storage, the iPad Pro internal storage and Photos library, externally connected iCloud or USB-C media disks.

Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.6.3 update which adds support to sync media from network folders for cloud projects. This means the project owner can now sync between their Blackmagic Cloud Store and any network attached storage drive or folder, allowing cloud workflows on high end projects that use large amounts of shared storage. There is also a new option to prevent sleep mode while uploading files or generating proxies so these functions can continue uninterrupted regardless of your computer’s settings.
DaVinci Resolve 18.6.3 update also adds support for a new dialog menu that appears when importing projects to a cloud project library. This means that you will be prompted to configure project settings such as media and proxy storage location at the start of your import, making sure your project is correctly structured from the beginning.
When it comes to delivering your project, you now have the option to select proxy media rather than camera originals for web presets, saving you unnecessary processing and speeding up your delivery workflow. There is also added support for decoding 4:2:2 HEIF and HIF clips, allowing you to use much higher quality footage shot on smartphones.
This software update also adds a number of stability improvements, including improved popup window management and control for Macs running Sonoma 14.1, better transition deletion when working with clips that have in and out ranges applied and improved speed performance when ripple editing large timelines. There is also better handling of saturation for HDR images when using custom curve soft clip and for DaVinci Resolve Studio, improved audio syncing when bouncing audio with voice isolation.

Today we announced DaVinci Resolve 18.5.1 update which includes a number of improvements including better retention of color grades when stabilizing clips. This means your latest color grade version will be automatically applied when using image stabilization to smooth out unwanted camera motion in your footage.
DaVinci Resolve 18.5.1 also includes more consistent audio playback when adding tracks to higher bus numbers, allowing you to play back complex timelines while controlling levels on individual tracks and busses. For Studio users, this update improves playback when using voice isolation on energy efficient CPU and GPU systems, making it easier to review up to 2,000 tracks in real time.
This update also more accurately copies and pastes tracked power windows and tracking data meaning the position and aspect ratio will be correctly replicated, speeding up your workflow when tracking multiple items.

DaVinci Resolve 18.5 is a massive update with new AI tools and over 100 new features which include major additions to the cut page editing toolset, text based editing, AI dialogue transcription, new Resolve FX, enhanced Fusion tools including Universal Screen Descriptor support and powerful new Fairlight audio mix automation. The Cut page features 3 new menus including tools to toggle ripple editing, resync audio and more! You can quickly generate captions for timelines with auto speech to text, or search on key words for faster editing. Resolve FX relight lets colorists add virtual lighting to a scene and VFX collaboration is now faster with support for Universal Scene Descriptor files. Plus you can group tracks in Fairlight for faster mix automation and editing.
We would like to thank all of the customers that participated in the beta program, tested the software in a variety of workflows, reported bugs and helped to make DaVinci Resolve 18.5 even more reliable.

We found a great spot at the top of the 15th Grandstand behind the green where we could see so much of the course and play from the first day at today. Having a pair of the MonarchM7 binoculars from the hire stand meant we could follow an even larger amount of the play too. This isn’t a sponsored post just a huge recommendation that for the £20 hire fee for the day, it added massive value to the experience.
Bringing the trophy home - Team Red overturned a 13 - 10 deficit at lunch to win 22.5 - 23.5. Happy to report myself and won two points from two matches against a very valiant effort from the team from Great to meet you guys, ‘do battle’ over the day and support such a worthy cause in the process. Well done for raising over £9,000 today and helping young people build better futures.

Today we released public beta 2 of DaVinci Resolve 18.5 and DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.5 which adds improvements to beta 1 release features. This includes improved audio quality when encoding AAC audio on Windows 11 systems, giving you more distinctive and clearer sound at lower bitrates. This update also adds improved decoding of H.264 and H.265 clips on some Windows and AMD systems, allowing for smoother playback when working with these file formats. For those using the new Presentations feature with Blackmagic Cloud, this update includes better syncing of markers back to the DaVinci Resolve timeline, making it faster to review notes and incorporate feedback.
For Fusion, there are additional shading options in the Universal Scene Descriptor viewer dropdown and context submenu. This gives you a wider range of workflow options, meaning you can choose wireframe shading when you want faster playback or select flat or smooth mode when you wish to work in more detail. In addition, this update adds more control visibility options when working with uCamera, allowing you to selectively disable overlays to reduce on screen clutter.
