🔥 Opening tomorrow at Autograph : a rare chance to see photographs by a seminal figure of the British art scene of the 1980s, Rotimi Fani-Kayode, in a new exhibition featuring never-before-seen works.
Rotimi Fani-Kayode (born 1955, Lagos, Nigeria - died 1989, London, UK), is recognised internationally for his groundbreaking and profound portraits which are a brave exploration of culture, intimacy, desire and pain.
The exhibition ‘The Studio - Staging Desire’ curated by Mark Sealy, documents the artists work in the period 1983-1989, when Fani-Kayode lived and worked in Brixton. During this period, the artists studio transcended into a sanctuary visualising black q***r self-expression, and allowed the artist unprecedented freedom and creativity amongst London’s fluid, racial multiverse.
