Born on this day, the incomparable Kenneth Wlliams.

For those of you who love a good Carry On, especially when we mangle that iconic 'Frying tonight!' line from Carry On Screaming, uttered by Kenneth, we hope you'll love this audio play.

Robert Ross has imagined three moments over the course of Kenneth Williams life, within his love/hate relationship with Fennella Feilding (who he was in an acclaimed West End r***e with before co-starring in the aforementioned Carry On film).

Brilliant bringing their voices back to life, Wink Taylor and Jessica Martin provide the vocal hsitrionics - from camp to catty, silly to serious, mirthful to melancholy.

With a lovely brief cameo from Carry On stalwart and leading man, Jim Dale, this is a bittersweet audio play about two souls who could have and should have been best friends but who's eccentricties and egos got in the way.

‘Screaming Queens!’ is a what-if fantasy. A three-act, two-handed snapshot of a complex, bitchy, and completely unique friendship; seen through the prism of the stages of London’s West End and the movie sets of the classic Carry On film franchise.

Written by Kenton Hall, starring Barnaby Easton-Jones and Wink Taylor as Cary Grant, the project explores a lesser-known period of Cary Grant's life as he struggles with fame and his own identity.

“Cary On was a joy to perform… Ever since I can remember I have always loved Cary Grant,” says Taylor. “When I found out that the super smooth Cary Grant was, in reality, an anxious man from Bristol called Archibald Leach I became even more fascinated.”

Cary On is a journey into the heart and mind of a cinematic icon. And, more importantly, of the man who brought him to life. About Cary On It’s 1958 and Cary Grant is at the height of his fame and his powers. He is adored by cinematic audiences around the world but there's something missing. On screen, he is the sophisticated romantic. In the real world, he's staring down the barrel of yet another divorce. On screen, he’s light-hearted and level-headed. In the real world, he hides from (and is troubled by) the dark secrets of his past. If he's honest, the biggest problem is that he doesn't have the slightest clue who he really is. He just knows he's not Hollywood’s Cary Grant. But he also knows he’s not Archie Leach either, his birth name in Bristol, England. What can he do about that? Well, he does what any self-respecting Hollywood movie star would do, under the circumstances. He decides to try L*D.

“Cary Grant has always struck me as a wounded soul, in search of something. For me, that's what Cary On is really about. The universal search for meaning and for self. Just in a finely tailored suit and with a twinkle in its eye,” says Cary On writer Kenton Hall. “I was exceedingly fortunate to be asked to write it.”

The concept of Cary On came from producer/director Barnaby Eaton-Jones, who adapted Kenton's theatre script for audio. Nearly 20 years ago, Eaton-Jones had written a televised documentary about Cary Grant. Fascinated by the actor’s experimentation with L*D and how it freed him from his anxieties, worries and insecurities, Cary On was born. From there, Kenton Hall (‘London After Midnight’, ‘Getting Better: The Fight for the NHS’, ‘Bisection’) wrote the script and Wink Taylor (Winston Churchill in ‘Getting Better: The Fight for the NHS’) was cast in the lead role.

A NEW PUPPETEER IS PULLING OUR STRINGS...

Spiteful Puppet Entertainment Ltd has been acquired by AUK Studios Ltd.

Directors of Spiteful Puppet, Andrew Swaisland and Gary Haberfield, said: “With both companies already having worked together on multiple award-winning audio projects, and with Andrews UK (the sister company to AUK Studios) providing the global distribution for Spiteful Puppet for many years, it is the perfect conclusion and next step on the creative future path for Spiteful Puppet. We wish the AUK Studios team every success in carrying the torch forward and building on what we have achieved in a short space of time.”

Spiteful Puppet Entertainment Ltd also confirmed that existing IP and content will be transferred with the sale of the company to AUK Studios Ltd.

The brilliantly funny cult classic is resurrected on audio with NEW adaptations of the television episodes. Chelmsford 123 was co-created, co-written, and co-starred Jimmy Mulville and Rory McGrath.

From the original cast, Philip Pope and Neil Pearson also returned, with guest stars such as Paterson Joseph, Phil Nice, Hannah Boydell, Kim Jones, Wink Taylor, Ben Perkins, and producer/director Barnaby Eaton-Jones.

SCREAMING QUEENS...

OPEN THE DOOR TO SERIES FOUR...

If you're a 'Robin of Sherwood' fan, the ending to Series 3 was partly a lovely wrap-up and partly open-ended. Series 4 was commissioned but lost the main source of funding and it was always a hugely expensive show to produce, so it was sadly scrapped just before filming began.

A TALE OF TWO FANTASIES...

Developed from an idea by producer/director Barnaby Eaton-Jones (who also appears as the arch nemesis of our titular hero), in an attempt to update the tall tales of Baron Munchausen, these two flights of fantastical fancy are modern-day fables written by Paul Birch.

They are told with astonishing vocal versatility by Richard O'Brien ('Rocky Horror Picture Show') as the Baron, and ably accompanied by the beautifully befuddled and naturalistic Sophie Aldred ('Doctor Who') as his publisher Smith.

Layered in a rich soundscape by Joseph Fox, which befits the surreal and wide-ranging situations we find ourselves being taken to as the listener, and with a beautiful score and theme tune by Abigail Fox, there's even a musical cameo from Sir Elton John (in the form of Darrell Maclaine).

Born on this day, Frankie Howerd - the saucy comedian best known as Lurkio in the ribald, Roman-set Up Pompeii comedy series.

Our 50th anniversary audio revival featured a host of famous names led by David Benson as Frankie/Lurkio.

You'll hear an evil Tim Brooke-Taylor, a stern Madeline Smith, a saucy Cleo Rocos, a giggly Camille Coduri, an earnest Jack Lane, a wholesome Rosa Coduri, a coniving Ben Perkins, a farcical Frazer Hines, a cheeky Barnaby Eaton-Jones, and a madcap Jilly Breeze - all in character, of course!

With an audio script adapted by Barnaby Eaton-Jones, Daniel McGachey and Iain McLaughlin, from the stage play by Miles Treddinick, and with kind permission of Tessa La Bars.
