I'm hearing that a lot of people (myself included) want to shop locally as much as possible this Christmas and support small businesses.

So I've set this up as an info point for small independent businesses to let everyone in SE9 know if they're open for orders, what they're selling and how we can get hold of them. If you're a small business or independent trader, please feel free to comment below with a link to your FB page or website so we can help our businesses of Eltham out as much as possible this Christmas season.

My top tip of the day is...
💡START USING HASHTAGS ON FACEBOOK💡

After a lot of time telling customers and clients that hashtags "aren't really a thing on FB", suddenly they are back. That's great news if you are relying on organic reach for a business page, which can be very tough. Have a go at adding a few super-relevant hashtags to the end of your post and let me know if your reach goes up. Have you already started and noticed an improvement?

A bit of news for those who use Facebook to advertise. Soon having more text on your ad image won't get your ad rejected.

The question is, will an image with lots of text over it perform as well? I think it might put people off but let me know how you get on with testing on this one...

Facebook is removing its restrictions on ads which include too much text in the main ad image.

So we've all heard that the various social media algorithms favour created content and especially video over link sharing. When I'm creating content I tend to set aside a chunk of my day to get a few things done all at once, which really helps with time management. What's your favourite content to create for your business? On the day I made this vid last week it was too hot for anything so organised and the only thing for it was to eat the props from this little stop motion video. Edible content creation anyone?

Social Media Tip - Cross Promote on Different Platforms

Do you use more than one social media platform for your business? Why not cross promote them. Some of your followers my not realise you have other profiles so it's a good idea to give your Insta profile a mention on FB and shout about Twitter on your Instagram to maximise followers across the board. Have you tried this trick yet?

Here's an easy trick for video content creation. Why not give it a try? #videotricks #contentcreation 📷 Take a series of pics with the camera in the same position. 🎥Then join them up using a gif maker app or video editor. This one was done very rapidly while the baby was napping. Easy and quick! Have you tried this yet?

Loss of confidence after time off is a major issue for a lot of women heading back to work. For me it's a combo of excitement to get going again, sadness at leaving my babies at childcare and also feeling a bit nervous. That's why I booked onto the brilliant Hellosocial.media Facebook for Business workshop this week in South London. The world of social media changes so quickly and it feels good to know I'm now back up-to-date with the latest developments that happened while I was up to my armpits in nappies and vom 👶.
