Alexis recently won the prestigious title of Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year, awarded by the Natural History Museum in London, for his stunning image of a springtail and the fruiting body of a slime mould. A huge achievement in a competition that receives nearly 60,000 entries worldwide!

From exploring Eco Kids Planet’s pages to learning in a 'forest kindergarten' in Berlin, Alexis’s love for nature photography blossomed into an incredible talent, capturing the hidden beauty of the tiny, often-overlooked natural world. 📸🌱

🌿 Meet the Spiky Stars of Issue 120 🌿

Thorny devil lizards look like they're dressed in a suit of spikes! 🦎✨ They make it hard for predators to eat them and even help lizards to DRINK!

Their mouths are perfect for chomping ants but not great at slurping water. So, what does a thirsty lizard do? Stand in a puddle! 💧 Thanks to a network of tiny grooves on their skin, water travels between those spikes right to their mouth. Then, with tiny, adorable gulps, they sip away! They also soak up dew, rain and moisture from wet sand.
