Loved working with this wonderful fun bunch.

Life is a little bit quiet this week as the last of this year's work experience students left last Friday!

Thank you to every single student that contributed to the station. Your hard work was commendable, your kindness to each other was appreciated and we had a lot of fun along the way.

All the shows are now available on our website: https://www.surreyhillsradio.co.uk/2023/06/30/work-experience/

WHAT A WEEK! 🤩

Thank you to Rowan, Alice, Daisy and Leo for a fantastic work experience week. We all really enjoyed watching you put your all into creating amazing radio!

🗣️ Some of the feedback:

"What I also loved was making the adverts promoting our show on Friday. I enjoyed this as I was able to put my creativity to the test and promote my show to the public."

"I have greatly enjoyed my work experience here at Surrey Hills Community radio, it was so well planned and detailed so we could all learn a variety of new exciting skills and gave us time to work in groups and solo."

"A personal highlight was being able to play records on the turntable live on air! Reading the news was another highlight and bucket-list item of mine!"

"I had lots of fun and that I’d do another week in a heartbeat."

🗓️ Today is the last day of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. It is important that we share this week's fantastic interview with Mandi Simms, an ambassador for the charity HoardingUK Charity. 🌟 Mandi, a long-time resident of Walton-on-Thames, suffers from hoarding disorder and is on a mission to raise awareness and change how we talk about this condition.

Listen to her story and how she has made so many positive steps forward: https://www.mixcloud.com/surreyhillsradio/wednesday-fun-11-to-1-15-may-2024/

📞 During the interview, we also spoke with Patrick Wolter, CEO of the Mary Frances Trust, about their Hoarding Peer Support group, which he has facilitated for many years and Mandi has attended.

Remember, support is out there. The Mary Frances Trust is an excellent resource for discovering the support available. 🧡 Well done Elaine on a fab and informative interview!

Had so much fun talking to Mandi Simms and her hoarding disorder today on Surrey Hills Community Radio. She had some great tunes as well. Why not pop into her pop up shop in heart shopping centre in Walton and say hi when you are passing.

The 13 to 17 May is Hoarding Awareness Week and a chance to focus on a disorder which can creep up on people as a response to stress, depression or anxiety.

Wednesday 15th May Surrey resident Mandi who is keen to raise awareness of her own hoarding experience and how she is helping others with her pop-up shop in Walton-on-Thames will be in the studio with me.
