I have successfully applied for a debate in the Chamber of the House of Commons on the “Future of St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon”.

This will take place at the end of business on Thursday 14th March (probably around 5.00pm). The debate is likely to last 30 minutes and will be replied to by a Minister from the Department of Health and Social Care. This debate is in addition to the more general one on “Health and Well-being Services in Essex” which Dame Priti Patel has obtained on Tuesday 12th March in Westminster Hall.

I have already received well over 500 responses to my own survey of my constituents giving their views on the future provision of medical services currently provided at St Peter’s. This is an issue of huge importance to local residents and it is clear that the overwhelming majority believe that it is essential that services continue to be available in the town.

I am delighted that I now have the opportunity to bring this to the attention of Parliament directly and that a Minister will be responding.
