One from last night up Great Ellerside. A big 10km walk from High Stott Park, up through High Dam, onto Great Ellerside and Rusland Heights and back through Finsthwaite. I was hoping for some better weather, as apparently it is June.

Those of you who follow this page, must do so because you enjoy my photography. That being said, I’ve started a project to write a book, detailing the time Margo and I have spent in Grizedale Forest, and the Rusland Valley. It’s a photo book, with stories about each image. It’s in very early stages, but I’ve started concept work and networking with potential publishers.

We are SO CLOSE to Autumn, guys. And I cannot tell you how excited I am to get back into the atmosphere. Summer has been nice. But photography in the Summer, for me at least, starts and ends with the Sunset and Sunrise. Anything in between those hours is usually pretty boring. Autumn, however, is atmospheric pretty much all day long. Stay tuned for the next season 🙏🏻🔥

Soon everywhere will be covered in fern, looking like a jungle. It’s amazing how much this stuff covers up. And sometimes, what hides within it. Lots of wildlife use fern to keep hidden and safe, such as deer and smaller animals like mice and birds or snakes. At this time of year, the leaves are just unfurling ready to flourish.

Bluebells are such a beautiful sight. Especially in the South Lakes which is where I spend most of my time. When they appear, you know it’s full swing Spring. But they’re also a very difficult subject to capture appropriately.

I love Spring. Easter time is right about the time all the lambs come out, all the geese are here mating and deer are being born, rabbits are having little kiddos and birds are hatching. Life is everywhere. This was a remote yarn in a secret location, I love to visit here throughout the year it’s like a different world. But I didn’t expect any Canadian geese to be there probably nesting. Nice surprise.

I’m back shooting on the Fujifilm X-T4 now, after selling all of my Nikon gear. I fell in love with this camera in Summer and then sold it, but I missed using it I decided to move over full time. Coming from full frame to APS-C felt a bit like a backwards move, especially as I often like to shoot in low light. But so far so good. Here’s a shot of two of my favourite horses, out near Ulverston 🙂

We’re missing the snow already. This rain and wind… it’s a no. Time to dig the bike out though maybe? 🥴

Earth As I See It

I started this page to document my journey into photography and to share with other people the things I find interesting. Many of us go about our daily lives at 100mph (I’m guilty) every once in a while it’s nice to stop and take notice of the world around us, the world many of us unintentionally take for granted. The Earth is our home and everything in it, is awe inspiring. If we just take a moment to slow down and look at where we live, maybe we can turn it round before it’s too late.
