Selecting the right KPIs is the key to accelerating your digital marketing campaigns - but when it comes to your website, which metrics should you analyse?

Here are my top 3:

1️⃣ The number of users

How many people visit your site? Where are they from? How did they get onto your site? Track this and you'll be able to measure ROI from your marketing campaigns.

2️⃣ Session duration

How long do people spend on your site? How does this link to each of your marketing campaigns? This is a measure of how engaged users are with your content.

3️⃣ Bounce rate

Bounce rate is a metric that measures the percentage of website visitors who leave your site after viewing one page. It’s a way to track how many people are immediately clicking away from your site instead of exploring further.

A high bounce rate could be indicative of poor design, irrelevant content or that your website just isn't answering the questions visitors have.

Does your website run to the best of its potential?

Websites need maintenance to keep them up to speed. Here are some tips to keep your site running smoothly:

🔥 Keep your images small
Images on your site should be no bigger than a few hundred kilobytes, this will help your pages load quickly.

🔥 Have a plan for your content
The best websites are streamlined with high quality content - do all your pages serve a purpose? - if they don't, delete them!

🔥 Learn how to code!
Having a basic grasp of HTML can help you implement the functionality you need and keep the pages running fast. This will mean you won't need a plugin for every part of your website!

Other than that, remember that you need to keep your software up to date, take backups, then you can't go too far wrong!

Social media is the place to be to network & build connections - but how?

There are just 3 easy steps - start with a plan, post consistently & engage meaningfully ⬇️

🔥 Have a plan
Make a list of the accounts you'd like to engage with. What are their interests? Do they regularly use specific hashtags? If so, there's a good chance that if you post content using the same hashtag, your content will be more visible to that user. How can you provide them with value? Use these insights to inform the content you post & the form of outreach to them.

🔥 Engage daily
Like content from users that fall into your ideal customer demographic. Share content if it's relevant & appropriate. Reply to their content with meaningful comments - so many people try this and just leave comments like "Great post". See if you can be more creative. What do you like about this content in particular? Can you share any interesting insights? See if you can use the comments section to build discussion.

🔥 Post content consistently
Engaging daily helps to raise the visibility of your own profile. Make sure that when someone visits your pages they see content that resonates with them. They need to see a reason to follow, don't let someone leave your page without understanding who you are and what you do to help them!

Be sure your website is encouraging visitors to take action on your website. Here's a couple of tips to do just that:

🔥 Keep your page layout simple and streamlined.
What website pages matter most to your business? Make sure they feature on the main navigation bar.

🔥 Add calls to action on your website
Do you want visitors to purchase something? Sign up to your newsletter? Something else? Whatever you would like visitors to do, keep directing users to this. For maximum impact, make sure that you're asking visitors to do just one thing at a time!

🔥 Add links within your pages to encourage visitors to keep moving around your website rather than just visiting one page.
You want visitors to be exploring your site. Adding links within your pages will help users find more content they are interested in.

There are so many social media metrics that it can be difficult to identify which metrics are most useful for you to monitor on an ongoing basis.

Followers? Impressions? How can you decide what to follow?

First of all, think about how social media may help your business.

Is it through generating website traffic? Increasing brand visibility?

If you're after website traffic, focus your attention on your Google Analytics statistics. For brand visibility, focus on the number of impressions your content receives. Followers will then come from this!
