Nobody believes that we can do it this season, but as a red, I'm always the eternal optimist.
Seat on the halfway line, just above the media folks, probably the best view of Wembley I've had yet.

SPORTS, SPORTS AND MORE SPORTS!
Most of my friends know that I love North American sports. In fact, it would be a dream job to be paid to watch live games. I spend an absolute fortune following teams around the world on a regular basis, and throughout this latest trip to the US, I've seen:

- New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks
- Brooklyn Nets vs New Orleans Pelicans
- New York Rangers vs Florida Panthers
- New York Islanders vs St Louis Blues
- New Jersey Devils vs St Louis Blues (again)
- Philadelphia Flyers vs my favourite team - Toronto Maple Leafs (we won 6-2!)
- Boston Celtics vs Detroit Pistons
- Boston Bruins vs Ottawa Senators

I would love to be one of those 'superfans' and see a game at every team for every sport.

However, that might be too ambitious ... even for me! 😂

🍀 ST PATRICK'S DAY PARTY 🍀
I'm aware that I'm currently dressed like a tw@t, but when you're in Boston for the world's famous St Patrick's Day Parade, you can't help but get into the spirit of things.

The parade runs through downtown, is 2 1/2 hours long, everyone is out drinking, watching stuff go by and having a good time.
And the amount of free stuff I've received will probably fill a small suitcase.

If you're Irish and you want somewhere to celebrate other than Dublin, come to Boston, you won't be disappointed.

ENJOY THE SILENCE ...
Gettysburg is revered by Americans, as it was the stage of one of the bloodiest wars in American History. An important turning point for the victory of the Union over the Confederates.

And when you come to this middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania, you'd think that you're in lovely rural countryside, with rolling hills and large fields. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, there's no traffic noise. It's quiet, it's pleasant and it's peaceful.

Too peaceful.

Then you see the rows of cannons, the sheer amount of memorials and when you realise that you're in one of the world's biggest graveyards, it finally hits home how horrible this place must have been during the American Civil war.
Only a few thousand bodies were ever found and buried. The rest of them are still out there, so you're basically walking on dead people!

I spent a lovely afternoon just following the suggested car-route to visit all the key points. Nothing screams freedom than jumping in a car and driving in your own time in the sun to various destinations. And the museum was pretty cool too.

If you have an interested in American History, this definitely comes recommended once in your life.

DESTROYED IN DC
In my mind, I think I'm 22. However, my body thinks I'm 65.
With only a short time to see most of the sights in Washington DC, I tried to powerwalk around every memorial, every museum and every point of interest.

From the Capitol Building, to the Washington Monument, the baseball stadium, the White House, Ford's Theatre and everything in between. I even went to the Pentagon (they unfortunately don't let you in).

My Fitbit clocked me at 19 miles of walking, and I've barely covered half of the city. I haven't even gone into any of the museums yet.

I feel happy that I covered a lot in a day, but I'm physically broken!

INSIDE THE STATUE OF LIBERTY!
To kick off my month long birthday celebrations, I've landed here in New York City. One of the things I always wanted to do was visit the Statue of Liberty - the icon of all freedom and possibly the symbol of America itself.

Up close and personal, it's exactly as advertised … but I didn't know you could go inside the damn thing?! I managed to grab one of the very few tickets available to go inside Lady Liberty.
I think it’s only 200 a day, and sold out months on advance, so I got lucky … really lucky.

So what's it like inside? It's cramped and narrow and there isn't enough room to swing a cat. But when you look out of her crown, you know it was worth the effort to climb her and the money you paid to see her.

But even if you couldn't get tickets to go inside - the whole experience of visiting the museums, taking in the views from the pedestal, going around the island, and even the ferry ride is totally worth the experience.

BOXING DAY TART-AN
In a break with the tradition of either going Christmas sale shopping or doing absolutely nothing; I decided to go to not one, but two Boxing Day football matches. I’m feeling festive, so I decided to wear one of my more ‘colourful’ suits to both games.

Now some people aren't sure if I'm a dodgy Chinese pimp, a very well dressed lumberjack, or if I'd just got the date for Robbie Burns night wrong. But the reaction was mixed. Very mixed.

So why am I dressed in a bright red tartan suit? a) Because I can and b) because why not, eh?

(Hey laugh all you want, I look good?! 🤣😉)

For my birthday this year, I decided to spend it in Bordeaux, aka wine country.
As a none-wine drinker, it seems kind of strange that I'd ever visit - but I'm so glad I did!
Not only did I learn a lot about wine, but if you're after a stereotypical experience where you can drink wine in the sun, or explore the French countryside, or enjoy amazing food in medieval French villages, this is definitely the place to go to.

IF YOU ONLY HAVE 48 HOURS IN TUNISIA …

1) Take the squintiest photo of you at El Jem, an ancient Roman Amphitheatre, similar to the coliseum in Rome. Eyes have never been so narrow!

2) Visit the original filming set of Star Wars and almost break a priceless prop from the film. Look sheepish and pretend nothing happened.

3) Ride a camel at sunset with the lovely couple you sat next to on the plane. Have an amazing time and take in the most amazing sunset over the desert.

4) Almost fall to your death at the home of Troglodytes (people who live in caves) trying to take a picture for another tourist from above.

5) Wake up at 4:30am to drive two hours to the famous ‘salt-lake’ – that hilariously has about the same amount of water as a garden pond. Take a photo of a camel made of salt instead.

6) Try to break into the holiest mosque in the country for photos and videos only to be intercepted at the door. Make do with a photo from the roof instead.

You know, the usual. 🙂

NERDIEST NERDERY OR NOT?

Contrary to the picture that you’re seeing in front of you, I am NOT a Harry Potter fanboy.

In fact, up until about 6 weeks ago - I’d never seen an actual film.
I decided that was going to change, so whilst I was in Luton a few weeks ago, I ended up visiting the famous Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio Tour London.
After watching all of the films back to back (pretty much), I thought “what the hell”, let’s dress the part. I’m nearly 40 and I can’t get away with dressing like a schoolboy with a cape & wielding a wand, (although some people say that I dress like that anyway).
Hence the slightly more upmarket three-piece suit in Gryffindor colours.

What’s it like? It’s actually bloody amazing!

For someone who’s not a fan, I think I was mesmerized by the sheer amount of props, make up, the details on the sets. The behind the scenes stuff was really cool and the whole experience was just … awesome! And this is coming from someone who isn’t really a fan.
If you haven’t already been and you’re a fan of the series, book now! It’s the best £50 you’ll spend all year.

The ‘Changing of the Guard’ Ceremony is one of the most famous attraction in London … and most tourists DO IT WRONG!!!

Most of the time they’ll stand in a crowd somewhere near the palace and it’ll be horribly uncomfortable and they won’t see anything. If they have queued for hours at the gates, they won’t know what’s happening, even though they can see. Fortunately, there is a better way!

This is my video guide to the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, I’ll explain exactly what’s happening, why they’re doing it that way and what the best way to see it is. I'll actually show the best way to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, without having to queue for hours or get crushed by tourists.
