We're delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the RTS Cymru Wales Awards 2023.

As ever, our Awards will celebrate upcoming talent in the form of our Student Awards, alongside our core Industry Awards – which now feature a host of new categories.

As well as the return of well-established categories such as Drama and Children’s, we now offer more opportunities for those making factual television via separate categories for Entertainment, Documentary, Sports Documentary and Short-form News items.

We'll also celebrate on-screen talent in the form of Best Presenter and Drama Performance.

For the first time, we'll commemorate important industry roles that often go unnoticed, such as Production Manager and Location Manager.

And to reflect the way television is now being consumed, we have refined our Digital Category, and also included Multi-skilled Journalism.

Needless to say, we're thrilled to be taking the back to the extraordinary Dora Stoutzker Hall at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

20/05/2021

⚽️ Every Saturday, hundreds of football reporters are sent to grounds across the UK to report the goals, controversies, red cards and resignations… in real-time.

The pandemic has moved press conferences to Zoom, technology improvements and budget cuts mean reporters are often seen filming, editing and filing their own interviews, while multi-platform coverage means reporters must create platform-specific output 24/7.

And now, to make things trickier, football teams regularly give interview priority to their own media channels and in-house reporters on match day... so the competition to get what you need on the touch-line and in the tunnel has become tougher than ever.

So, what does it take to be a football reporter?
• To ask the killer question?
• To scoop a big transfer story?
• To shoot and edit interviews?
• To build contacts and break into sport broadcast in the first place?

And what will that landscape look like 5 years from now?

RTS Cymru Wales presents "The Evolution of the Football Reporter," as part of Expo'r Wal Goch (The Red Wall Expo) a unique festival exploring Welsh football’s social, cultural and political impact.

The panels are hosted by Steff Garrero and Nic Parry:
• English language – 2pm
• Cymraeg – 4pm

On June 3, Wales' leading football reporters meet to deconstruct their evolving role…
BBC Final Score:
• Laura Kenyon
• Marc Webber
BBC Radio Cymru:
• Owain Llyr
BBC Radio Wales:
• Ian Hunt
S4C:
• Sioned Dafydd
Sky Sports:
• Abigail Davies
• Bryn Law
