I’m preparing for my longest run ever! I’ve agreed to run the Brentwood Half Marathon on behalf of SOS SEN. My training is going really well and I’m having a great time adding the miles each week. If you are able to sponsor my run and support our charity that would be amazing! We help families to navigate the complex special educational needs system.

I’ve been asked to observe our regions prep training to see the experience that all adopters are getting, this week I’ve been on a journey with some adopters and it’s been really fun to see the messages coming through and the feedback from that too.
This is a special episode. Little Dude talks about life as an adoptee, speaks from the heart and gives you his views.
I have been working with a new prep group and have asked Little Dude to speak from an Adoptees perspective, I asked him a variety of questions and we cover a range of topics. As you will hear, he only knew the topics just before we spoke, so these are all his genuine responses to the questions and f...

I have just joined a group called the Adopter Reference Group, our meeting was at the DfE and we got to start the discussion on what needs to happen to improve things for adopters/adoptees. We talked about contact, trauma-informed schools, support and many other things. Very exciting! I shall keep y...

Sleep is essential for development. Past trauma, grief and a new environment can make sleep tricky for our children. Add your top tips in the comments.
Today is Developmental Language Awareness day. DLD is a common disability affecting around 1 in 14 children, often difficult to spot because it can present alongside other conditions. To help children who might be affected, try to keep it simple and make sure they can see your facial expressions.
The little dude is growing up so fast, but with all those changes I was asked, was it what I expected and did I have any fears, so here’s my answers: https://adoptionadventures.podbean.com/e/as-he-grows-up/
I took Little Dude out for a trip to view a university and he also took us out for a drive! All of these huge milestones happening and we were asked to share more about it and then more about any fears we had when he was young, so here is the update from o...

Can not agree with this more. Contact should not be a topic to be afraid of
Well supported contact can make a huge difference to people’s lives. Most of the adopted adults who responded to this year’s Adoption Barometer survey never had direct contact with a birth family member during their childhoods. This is a source of regret for many. It was rarely an option for those adopted during the 1990s or earlier, and to this day can be tough and highly emotional for everyone involved. We’re calling for free, expert, lifelong support for birth family contact. Read more here: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0197G80
