A page is useful for purely business-related information, and posts here can be shared across your personal profile.

Here is a check list for you to ensure that your page is properly set up, and utilised:

• Select a name that represents your business
• Add a profile photo
• Add a cover photo
• Update your bio to include information about your business. Who you work with and how you help them.
• Check opening hours and ££ range

Add links to

o Your website
o Your email address

Pin a post with your most asset (a useful blog, case study, lead magnet)

Content / Posting

You do not have to post every day, but be sure to keep content relevant and updated at least a couple of times each week.

Did you know that you can optimise your profile for every Facebook group you are in? Your profile can be different for each group you belong to. So that dog walking group you are in can show your doggie side, whilst the travel marketing group you are a member of can speak directly to your business development side.

Prioritise those Groups that you are active in, and update your profile to speak directly to the members of each group.

• Update your group bio to include information about your business. Who you work with and how you help them.

• Update your cover photo

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬?

Take a moment this week to check your personal Facebook profile. Did you know that you can use this for your business as well as private posts?

You can change the privacy settings for every post – so even if you use your personal profile to promote your business, you can keep family and personal posts private.

Here are some things to check, to ensure you are utilising your Facebook profile efficiently:

• Add a profile photo (make this a ‘decent’ one, if you are using your personal profile for some business posts!)
• Add a cover photo
• Update your bio to include information about your business. Who you work with and how you help them.

o Your Facebook business page
o Your Instagram page
o Your LinkedIn profile
o Your website
o Anywhere else you want to send potential clients

Change the privacy settings for any sensitive information you would not wish a potential client to see (did you know you can set different privacy settings for each of your posts on your personal profile?)

Finally, never underestimate the power of your personal network to support your business!

As a business, you protect your assets, right? You would never think of abdicating responsibility for bank accounts to an employee or accountant, without knowing access codes and retaining ultimate control yourself.

You should also be protecting your 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆,
as this is a key business asset too! There are two ways to do this, right now.

1. 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐰𝐨-𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Is this turned on? Do you keep your backup codes somewhere safe?

2. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬

Who currently has ADMIN rights to your social media accounts? Ideally, the OWNER/CEO/MD of the business should be ADMIN on all accounts, even if he/she is never involved in posting. It should never be just an employee, and the linked email address must never be that of an employee or external social media manager. 𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑏𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝐴𝐷𝑀𝐼𝑁 – 𝑠𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑤𝑛 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑠.

If you do nothing else this week on social media, except ensuring that YOU have complete access and ultimate control of all your accounts, this would be time well spent.
