F I N A N C I A L // F R E E D O M 💸

Living costs are rising while in retrospect your quality of life is decreasing. We debunk this myth with our ‘indispensible guide’ on how to save smart. According to a recent Money Plus Survey, over 90% of people feel they have been impacted by changes in the cost of living, from housing affordability to energy bills and grocery prices.

With the ongoing crisis, cutting costs does not necessarily have to mean cutting joy. It is still possible to maintain a fulfilling lifestyle even with the occasional luxury.

Here’s our list of top tips, exclusively for you:

· Get to grips with Budgeting: Firstly, track your monthly expenses and start by creating a realistic budget plan for the month. Try and put a certain amount directly in savings if possible. This can later be used as your emergency fund or any luxuries you would like to save for. There are many budgeting apps that can help you, for example, YNAB, PocketGuard or EveryDollar.

· Efficiency with Energy Bills: Look into buying energy efficient machinery for your household – they cost more upfront but save long term. Set up a smart meter to see what is using most energy. If possible, set up a timer on the radiators and other appliances, so that they are not being overused unnecessarily. Did you know that putting on your washing machine at night costs much less than running it in the day? Check with your energy provider on the latest tariffs.

· Eating out does not have to be a luxury: Look out for weekday offers, two for one deals or vouchers. is a great site that regularly updates restaurant vouchers as well as our very own Surrey Rocks monthly Calendars - which tell you which local establishments are offering those all-important, money saving deals. S P R I N G / H A I R / T R E N D S 🌸

As we step into Spring, the world of hair is embracing effortless elegance, soft movement and tailored colour that enhances natural beauty. The key trends this season focus on healthy, touchable hair with a polished but low-maintenance feel, something we’re passionate about at Serenity Hair & Spa. Whether you’re looking for a fresh cut, a seasonal colour refresh, or a style that fits seamlessly into your lifestyle, here’s what’s trending in UK salons.

SUN-KISSED, DIMENSIONAL COLOUR
Spring is all about warmth and light, and hair colour is reflecting just that. Overly cool, ashy tones are fading out, making way for richer, more dimensional hues. Think buttery blondes, golden caramels, and deep, espresso brunettes; all colours that add warmth and depth while remaining natural. Celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Margot Robbie are leading the way with soft, honey-toned highlights, giving a grown-out, seamless effect that looks as if the sun has naturally lifted their hair. Balayage and lived-in highlights continue to be popular, but the focus this Spring is on ultra-blended placement, so regrowth is softer and easier to maintain.

THE REVIVAL OF THE BOB
Shorter styles are having a major moment, with the bob taking centre stage. This year’s bob is sleek but soft, sitting at jaw or collarbone length with natural movement. Zendaya’s sharp, Parisian-style bob at the Oscars has sparked a wave of requests for polished but wearable short styles. For those who prefer a little more softness, the “boyfriend bob” is trending, this is an undone, tousled texture with a slightly longer length that just the shoulders. It’s a great option for those transitioning from longer hair but still wanting versatility in their style.

GLOSSY, HEALTHY-LOOKING HAIR
Shiny, nourished hair is a huge trend, and this Spring’s biggest statement isn’t just about colour or cut, it’s about hair health.

We posed this question to a group of 4 to 8-year-olds…’What does love mean?’ The answers we got were deeper and more profound than anyone could have ever imagined! See what you think:

‘Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.’
Karl - age 5

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore…so my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’
Rebecca - age 8

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’
Billy - age 4

‘Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your french fries without making them give you any of theirs.’
Chrissy - age 6

‘Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’
Terri - age 4

‘Love is when my mummy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’
Danny - age 8

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and just listen.’
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

‘If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.’
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

‘Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.’
Noelle - age 7

‘Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still
friends even after they know each other so well.’
Tommy - age 6
