On this day in 1940 the Germans invaded the Channel Islands. The Islands remained under occupation for the duration of the War which lasted until 1945. Britain at no time intervened as they were too busy fighting in Europe and the Islands were probably the safest place to live during this period. Interesting to note that during the five year occupation no Islanders learnt German or were forced to speak German.....
