The current president, Joe Biden, isn’t standing again despite only serving one four-year term. With Joe Biden out of the race the choice is between the current vice president, the Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris, or the Republican Party’s Donald Trump, who’s been president once before.

We're delighted to be hosting a CPD webinar about helping children and young people navigate today’s complex news landscape. 🖥️ It’s a topic that is very close to our hearts here at First News, of course – it's what we aim to do every week, with our newspaper for children and our resources for schools; and we know that it’s hugely important for you all, as educators, too. 🗞️

Children are increasingly exposed to incredibly convincing misinformation, disinformation, bias and sensationalism, so we think it’s fair to say that the role schools play in developing news literacy is more critical now than it has ever been. As well as teaching media literacy, we are passionate about integrating these essential skills right across the curriculum and from as early an age as possible - empowering all pupils to think critically, question what they see and hear, assess sources, triangulate perspectives and engage thoughtfully with the world around them.
