This month I've seen a few accounts (including one spending £££££) where the pixel events haven’t been set up correctly or are double counting conversions. This means that the leads the agency had been attributing to the campaigns they've been running were over estimated and much higher than they should have been.
We are now in the process of checking all the pixel events & their CRM the leads data to see where the truth lies.
If you're running ads for lead generation, make sure you know that the data you're getting - whether this is in platform or from a report you're sent - matches up with the number of people you have signing up for whateveer you're promoting; this is the ONLY way you can honestly know if your ads are working as you think.
