New post added at IT Supply Chain - Talented Women in the Industry: Why teamwork is essential to achieving industry goalsTalented Women in the Industry: Why teamwork is essential to achieving industry goals 0 ViewsBriefly introduce the company. What are the advantages and disadvantages of working for an international company?
Flex is a global electronics manufacturing company that provides manufacturing and design solutions to customers in a variety of industries. We primarily manufacture finished products or components under our customers’ brands, but we also have our own products and services, with over 140,000 employees worldwide. Our customers include the automotive, healthcare, industrial and consumer electronics sectors. I believe that being an international company provides more opportunities for personal development by exposing employees to different cultures and business practices. Employees have the opportunity to develop their language skills and often have multiple career paths to choose from.
What motivated your choice of career and what was the path that led you to Flex?
I graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, Hospitality, and Tourism at BGE Budapest Business School, University of Applied Sciences. I chose the foreign trade specialization because I thought it would be interesting for people living in different parts of the world to be in contact with each other to give, buy, and move goods and services. It was also important for me to be able to use the foreign languages I had learned in my work, and perhaps even have the opportunity to travel.
What were the most important stages of your career?
I have been working at Flex since 2004. Initially as a strategic purchaser, then after two years as a Supply Chain Manager. Becoming a manager came as a bit of a surprise, I felt I was not prepared for it, but I thought that if my managers trusted me, I would rise to the challenge. Thanks to my perseverance and the support of my colleagues, I got through that difficult period. After that, I was a Purchasing Manager for about 10 years, during which time I supported businesses in our Automotive business. It was a successful period, and for the past seven years, I’ve been responsible for materials management at the Flex Automotive factory in Zalaegerszeg.
How did you get to your current position?
After graduating, I worked in Budapest, but after a few years, I decided to move back to my hometown, Zalaegerszeg. I had heard about Flex as it’s the city’s largest employer, but I didn’t know much about them. However, it was important for me to get a job at a large company, so Flex, as the only multinational company in the city at the time, was an attractive opportunity.
What does your role look like?
As is usually the case with supporting manufacturing processes anywhere, we work with several partners who supply materials and components from different parts of the world. In our case, this means around 16,000 suppliers. My task is to manage the company’s material supply and inventory. This includes purchasing, supply chain management, planning and forecasting, inventory, and cost optimization. We do our job well when our customers receive their ordered products on time and on budget. This involves a lot of planning, organizing, and communication tasks both with external partners and within the company. Our company’s goal is for our partners to keep coming back. Our task in this is to ensure that the logistics service for our customers is seamless so that their products reach the market consistently and on time.
What helped you to get where you are today?
At Flex, I had the opportunity to participate in countless communication, negotiation techniques, and later leadership training. I was always able to incorporate them into my daily work. However, I learned the most from my colleagues and managers from the real problems and situations that arose. Climbing the corporate ladder was largely due to my manager at work, with whom I worked for over 10 years. During that time, he always encouraged, supported, and inspired me to do my best. I learned a lot from him in terms of leadership and problem-solving.
Is there a project that you are particularly proud of?
There have been several of these over 20 years. A memorable one was when we launched a project for a new client with very short notice. This involved transferring the entire production and logistics from another plant to Flex. The hard work paid off and the intense collaboration helped build the team. It was difficult, but the shared success filled us all with pride.
How important do you think teamwork is for successful operations?
Teamwork is essential to achieving our goals, and harmonious cooperation within and between teams is a fundamental condition for our daily operations. Effective cooperation between different disciplines – including engineering, production, quality assurance, and internal logistics – as well as excellent communication and problem-solving competencies, form the basis of our daily tasks, enabling us to fully meet the expectations of our external and internal customers.

0 ViewsBriefly introduce the company.
