Imagine living with several diseases known as the most painful diseases in the world and they are measured as being equal to or higher than the pain experienced during childbirth. Can't imagine it? The McGill Pain Index recognizes it and built the index on patient responses. I made this chart many years ago to go with several articles on chronic pain. Here's one of them:

Unsolicited Health Advice From Pain Specialists: https://buff.ly/3LPbTnF

This post sums up a conversation I tried to have with a pain specialist on LinkedIn who told me it's wrong to say is unending/neverending because it might make pain patients suicidal. 😐🙄

I told her chronic pain IS neverending pain and said that what harms pain patients is lack of access to treatments that help. People who deny us or try to tell us how to talk about pain are also harmful!

❗I always get mixed reactions with this share because people feel left out, so let me start by saying the McGill Pain Index was developed in the 70s AND this chart includes my diagnoses. (Six items on this chart are listed in my medical records, btw.)

It's simply not possible to list all the most painful diseases and conditions on one chart. I might give it a try at some point as I have new diagnoses that are rated high on this scale.
