Don't you just love August bank holiday weather?
So far we've seen tents flying around the fields at Creamfields and two stages at Leeds Festival have been closed due to this morning's storm.
Happy bank holiday everyone!
The Newham Recorder newspaper covers news, sport and entertainment in the London Borough of Newham.
The Newham Recorder was established in 1968, just three years after the old county boroughs of East Ham and West Ham were brought together to form the London Borough of Newham. Before that , since the early 1900’s there was the old East Ham Recorder, which was a slip edition of sister paper the Ilford Recorder. The paper in its current form provides a comprehensive weekly round-up of all the news,
views and issues affecting residents in and around the borough. There are several pages of sport and an entertainment and listings supplement called Lifestyle. The borough's local football club is West Ham United FC, who are members of the Barclays Premier League. Newham was the main London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games host borough, with Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park based in Stratford.

This film shows the moment three adorable lion cubs took their first steps outside. The three rare Asiatic lion cubs, born at London Zoo in March, spent their eight first weeks snug in their indoor dens. Venturing outside, at first they looked to mum Arya for reassurance but were soon skipping around, chasing each other and playing with mum's tail.
Staff are "over the moon" after these three endangered lion cubs were born at London Zoo. Born to seven-year-old mum, Arya, and dad Bhanu, 14, the litter of Asiatic lion cubs arrived at the Regent's Park attraction on March 13. With a wild population of only 600 to 700, they may be vital to the survival of the species - and they are adorable. London Zoo’s head big cat keeper Kathryn Sanders said: “Arya is proving to be a doting mum to her three cubs, and we’ve been able to observe some heartwarming moments via our hidden cubcam - from their first feed to their first steps.”

This is the SHOCKING moment a woman disappeared into a vehicle inspection pit - while looking at her car following an MOT 😱 MOT centre owner Shaqib said: "She was there to get her car fixed. She was looking for one of my colleagues to have a word. The tumble happened so suddenly that she wasn't entirely sure what happened - despite apparently being swallowed by the earth. She knows all of the staff well and she just wanted to chat. The whole thing happened so randomly I don't think she even realised what had happened." Saqib says all involved took what happened with humour - and the woman had only minor bruises. He said: "She was hurt but she only had some minor bruises. It was just a funny thing. We were all laughing about it."
