Hailing from the heyday of UKG and the birth of grime in east London, Ricky Sahota - formerly known as Ricky Sensi - began his journey at the age of 15. His passion for underground music was derived from collecting tape packs & rave CDs from the hottest parties of the era, and hauling bags of vinyl and CDs to a wide number of London-based Pirate Radio stations and secret warehouse parties.
Drawing influences from his eclectic armoury of music, including classic white label, UKG, Jungle, Dub Reggae, Soul and Jazz; his love for skippy percussion, melodic harmonies and groovy subs are evident in all of his sets and are guaranteed to give you what he calls ‘the chance to physically feel and connect with the sound.’ You will often hear Ricky breaking out of the confines of a standard house set, regularly exploring new sounds and samples to leave you constantly guessing what’s coming next.
Making his mark in the underground house scene, Ricky is out week after week, hyping up dance floors and cementing his unique style of deep, dubby house and forward-thinking UKG sounds in venues across the capital.
Never a stranger to a warm-up, peak or closing set, Ricky’s in-depth stage experience and love for the art of DJing coupled with his vast record knowledge, allows him to find a groove, build, and maintain it - wherever and whenever he performs.
Heading up his own label imprint - Sub:Conscious Records - Ricky has an array of releases forthcoming on the unapologetically underground label, while his Sub:Conscious Ldn parties – now into their fourth year of running - are garnering recognition for providing choice underground dubs, breaks and beats that are the deep, underground alternative to the progressively commercial tech-house scene.
With his deep passion for doing what he loves, in a scene he loves, alongside his intense drive and determination for business, its clear that 2020 is going to be an exciting year for Ricky Sahota.
