Let’s change it a bit . Let’s make it local . Let’s think about provenance. Let’s think about quality. Let’s think about welfare of the animals. It is no more expensive to have good charcuterie for your starter instead of salmon. Make a difference this Christmas for everyone including you . The art of charcuterie is one of the oldest methods of preserving with just salt and some alcohol. While Mary and Joseph were looking where to stop for a night people at the Inn next door were slicing some charcuterie for their evening meal . That is how old this art is 😀

Bulgarian Wines Discovery Masterclass, held at Blossom Street Social, owned by Ben Stephenson, Ancoats, Manchester.

The tasting was organised by Sue Harris.

It was great to discover indigenous grape varietals.

What stood out for me?

Rupel Winery’s Gramatik Rubin 2020 from the Thracian Valley that includes the central lowlands and parts of the Sakar Mountain and, Katarzyna Mavrud. (Mavrud comes from the Greek word for black).

The latter has Bulgaria’s largest underground barrel room and wine tourism is growing, especially around Struma Valley, just a couple of hours from Sofia.

It's going to be a whole lot of fun at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival (MFDF) launching tomorrow after being delayed a week because of the national mourning for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
There is so much to taste, learn and see at MFDF's 25th Anniversary. Its free to enter!
