THE SCRIPT'S NEW ALBUM ‘SATELLITES’ IS OUT NOW Photo by Jordan Rossi.
The Script today release their new album ‘ ’ the crowning moment in a new stage for The Script, who have continued to inspire international audiences with the record’s previous singles ‘Both Ways’ and ‘At Your Feet’. The band are one of the biggest success stories in the history of Irish music, having scored six UK #1 albums and sold-out huge shows all across the world. Their global total of 10 billion+ streams also resulted in a recent BRITs Billion Award in honour of exceeding that landmark figure in the UK alone.
Beyond its singles, ‘Satellites’ is an album in which The Script often accelerate their pulse with higher energy songs and more experimental touches than fans have come to expect. It’s a trait that powers the pure, pulsating pop of ‘Unsaid’ which makes its mark in a little over two minutes, as well the joyous, fleet-footed ‘Run Run Run’. But it goes deeper, too, with ‘Gone’. Danny’s tribute to his gone-too-soon friend and bandmate Mark Sheehan is defiant and celebratory, its poignancy underlined by the observation, “Why do stars that shine twice a bright only burn for half as long?”
Another highlight is ‘Home Is Where The Hurt Is’, which plays between the emotional highs and lows that The Script are so adept at exploring. Its lyrics dare to face up to the memories that would often be locked away, yet by expressing them in a bold stadium-scale rock sound The Script translate personal demons into a cathartic communal release - both for themselves and their fans. The central lyric, "Ohana ohana, no one left behind, we’re broken in pieces but the pieces are mine,” stands out: ohana being the Hawaiian word for a family in which no-one is left behind.
The album also explores issues of hidden anxiety and depression on ‘Inside Out’, while its title track is a folk-flavoured ballad that, fittingly, was co-written by Mark. Collectively the album affirms that The Script will never be the same, but, as its cover indicates, their journey will nonetheless continue. As Danny summarises, “We're just trying to get on and do what it is that we all feel is the next right thing to do, and that’s to keep making more great music.”
‘Satellites’ is available to buy or stream HERE. The album is available as a limited edition hardback book CD, black vinyl and standard CD. The Script’s official artist store also offers a limited edition white vinyl, cassette and new merchandise.
With 35 stadium shows still to play on their world tour with P!nk, The Script will have played to a combined audience of more than 2 million people before the year is out. They have seen phenomenal demand for tickets for their UK and European headline tour, which has seen many arena dates sell-out months in advance, while six intimate album shows in Bristol, Sheffield and Kingston were also recently added. They have just started a major North American headline tour, and recently confirmed details of 2025 shows which included Australia’s touring A Day on the Green festival and gigs in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.
