I don't feel the need to post much these days. I'm still doing my thing and have this laid back approach to language learning.

If I recognise words and have some understanding it will all help me. It doesn't matter if can't speak fluently. I'm enjoying the learning and structure of different languages.

These badges are fun but they don't change my goal,I will probably reset my account again after each new language.

I'm also investing my time learning elsewhere, more on that in due course.

Been charitable is an important life lesson. Sometimes it's time, others it's goods or financial.

We just do our bit to help. I buy books from charity shops and give them back afterwards.

The wife and myself also donate to different charities when it's convenient to us (financially).

My first attempt at casual football with some older players. Don't remember anyone kicking me or twisting but hey ho.

One thing I learned is don't get old, your body can't cope.

I have been a football fan for decades, recently I had chance to watch my home town play. It was the first time going with my daughter who was also born here (Scunthorpe). We had a great time.

I used to go watch more regular with a friend before I had kids. Whilst the team has gone through very tough times,.and survived, it was nice to experience how a small club works.

I took my film camera and got a few shots, first time ever shooting football

When you are out with your family it's nice to capture snaps.

But sometimes the photographer in you sees something different. It isn't relatable to everyone, not are the results. But to me, seeing a reflection is beautiful.

You have no idea how much work this takes!

Writing and editing in my own time along with trying to learn languages has been tough.

Those who read the books will see small snippets of my language learning appear! Shush don't tell anyone.

Still on my language learning journey.

Trying different languages and different approaches.

It's becoming addictive but harder than anything I've ever done.

2024 and book 2 is finished!

Now starts the stage known as proofreading! There are many parts to this, from punctuation, to grammar, looking for plot holes. Seeing if the story makes sense. Do the chapters flow?. Have I introduced the characters?

So, much to do.

Writing is the easy part, coming up with a plot and lots of ideas is the hard part!

See you in a few months.

Found some great authors like rhinehart,Leonard. It's been great to read a variety as its fuelled my creative side. This meant I could write a lot myself too.

In the last week or so I've read these few. I really love Jules verne. My daughter even read it,I'm trying to encourage children to read old books too. Some of them are easy to read and a tell a great story that even the current generation can follow.

It's funny I asked her why she liked "journey to the centre of the earth" and it was the different cultures and languages of the characters. It wasn't to do with the dinosaurs, the discovery, the adventure, nature or science - it was the language.

Just shows we all get something different out of a book. Now on to the next one.

Do you know I can't stop reading classics at the minute.

When books like this are written over 170 years ago you might think they would be boring or not relevant. Think of the changes we have seen just in my lifetime, but that's all irrelevant.

When something is well written the story takes you,the characters keep you interested. Sure there are differences in the type of language, because language changes.

At the core of Dumas book is a compelling story of honour and love.

This is the single largest book I have read in years too (600pages) but I still enjoyed it.

You should all try a classic. Merry xmas

Can you believe it,I was telling schools about Duolingo 10 years ago

It's a fab resource and I've enjoyed using it personally. It's far from perfect but it's free.

I've read research about learning 2 languages at the same time when you get to a certain level (being comfortable) . I've started this challenge this weekend so let's see what happens.

Will my brain cope or just fog up like normal?

À bientôt oder auf Wiedersehen?

During the annual steampunk event in Lincoln, I managed to spend some time on the streets. I love the social aspect of the event, as everyone is happy and approachable.

My aim is only ever to capture a few individuals, because film costs me money. You might find it strange I choose to shoot film rather than digital but this way it keeps my concentration and skill level up. Out of 9 photos I shot 8 were perfectly in focus. I only take 1 shot per person.

If i took a digital camera I would have taken a few, looked at the screen, re-composed and gone again blah blah.

Anyway hope you like.
