Video to show progress of cinema wall I constructed recently in a dedicated cinema room in Bishops Stortford. This awkward shaped room had a window, a central recess and a cupboard in the way, and so required some construction work to create a flat wall with integrated screen and speakers. Amazing sound quality is achieved from large in-wall Dali Phantom M-375 speakers covered with acoustic sound boards and sound proofing. A large sub-woofer and cinema surround amp is discreetly hidden behind the right side panel.(which was once a cupboard). Now Just waiting for the black carpet and sofa to be installed for final sound and picture calibration.

Installation of the week 21 May 2021, Harlow, Essex
This unique and beautiful cinema system was designed, supplied and installed by Gavin McDonald in a renovated 6 x 4M living room.
The system consists of an 8ft fixed frame Grandview cinema screen with luxury black velvet surround and acoustic grade material. The screen was installed above a bespoke in-wall electric fireplace. Behind this screen we installed 3x in-wall monitor audio LCR speakers to provide front channel sound fields. A powerful floor standing powered sub-woofer with 12” driver provides plenty of bass. For the surround sound fields we installed monitor audio Bronxe FX dipole wall mounted speakers on the rear wall and 2x in-ceiling speakers for dolby atmos overhead effects. The system was powered using a Denon AV receiver remotely hidden in an understair cupboard alongside a Sky Q digibox.
An Optoma UHZ65 Laser projector was used for providing a high quality 4K image from Sky Q and blu ray disc player. This projector also offers a high brightness spec so can also be used for daytime viewing in multi-purpose living room.
The walls and ceiling were double plaster-boarded and insulated during renovation to provide excellent sound-proofing. Coupled with soft furnishings, a thick carpet and dark coloured walls, this cinema system provides a fabulous sound and looks amazing.

Dolby Atmos 11.2 Cinema Room with 10ft Electric Projection Screen.
Highlights of one of my favourite cinema installations I completed in 2020 at a home in Chelmsford, Essex.

Background
It Started with a decent sized room (5 x 6M) and a blank canvas to work from. The brief was to install a mid to high spec cinema room with a full fat dolby atmos surround soundstage, a large recessed electric cinema screen, and a good quality 4K image. All AV kit was to be stored in a utility room behind with full remote control access.
The main challenge was to install a screen and front 3 speakers around the 2 large windows that were to remain at front of the room.
Dali wall-mounted Rubicon (x3 front) and Opticon (x4 rear) loudspeakers were selected for this project on basis of their quality and design attributes which needed to be slim to sit behind electric screen. Four matching ceiling speakers and two large 12” Dali powered sub-woofers completed the set (7.4.2). All speaker positions calculated and optimised using Dolby Atmos calibrated drawings.
An electric Grandview Cyber-series 10ft acoustic transparent cinema screen was installed as the perfect size to compliment room size and viewing distances. This would perfectly hide speakers and window when in use.
An Optoma UHZ65 Laser Projector was ceiling mounted at the back of the room to supply the 4K compatible image. This was linked to a Denon 11 channel AV amp, Sky Q box and 4k Blu Ray Disc Player in room behind. A simple ipad control system was used to turn on the equipment and drop the screen with the push of a single button.
A recessed ceiling design with integrated LED striplight, and two rows of cinema seats completed the overall look of the room.
The result: stunning image and sound and very happy customer.

Installation of the week. May 2021 GoffsOak.
Wall mounted an LG 65” Gallery TV with 3x KEF slimline speakers for surround sound system.
All cables concealed in wall.
The LG gallery TV is extremely thin and allows a flush fit to wall. Although difficult to get cabling and power socket recessed into wall behind, the final result looks great.
