⭐Is she a bird? Is she a plane? No, she's Pax the Panda!⭐

If you're lucky, there are days when you have so much fun at work, that quite frankly, it's ridiculous.

This was one of those projects.

Series 3 of Obki

A fabulous animation about a loveable alien who wants to do good for planet earth.

Series 3 is now available on Sky Kids and NOW TV

And this little bird is delighted to be a little panda-shaped part of it.

The thing is, I wouldn't have known unless the production company told me!

💥"Studio dog steals baby Jesus!"

I can see the headline now.

This is Neville Longbottom's best shot at featuring in a Nativity. From the safety of his bed!

I told him my very first role at infant's school was playing Mary. He was invested immediately, as you can see.

🙄But the thing is, Mr Longbottom's a thief.

Last week?
A bag of lemons from the kitchen worktop.

The week before?
A Clementine from the fruit bowl.
(What is it with citrus fruit?!)

This is why he still isn't allowed in the studio.

And this is why he won't be making an
appearance in any Nativities this year.

Nor will he be appearing in any of my recordings for you, lovely clients.

💡Well, unless you need a chatty whippet, that is...??

Music,

The passion of a director.

When you feel aligned, it shows.

Focus on feeling aligned.

Ah the details, the musts, the have tos,

the insistence of the day to day.

The habits that form unwittingly.

Patterns of thought that no longer serve.

Too busy to notice,

you keep on keeping on.

⭐But what if you were to step away?

Just for a moment, an hour, a weekend, a day?

Might you see things afresh?

Appreciate anew?

Might you celebrate the magic of it all?

Thirty two hours away,
A beautiful family wedding.
An unexpected laughter-fuelled encounter,
and the joy of human connection,
that thing I speak of so often,
the power behind my life and work.

That did it for me!

I start this week with a smile,

'Just'. Small word. Big expectations.
We hear it a lot in the creative industry and as freelancers.
"Can you just......"

But that 'just'?
Takes time,
and skill.

A little insight into my world for you...

"Just sound normal."
Easy, right?

It's every day stuff.
It's what we do,
it's who we are.

⚡But it's not normal, when...

You have a mic'
in front of your face,
a script on your screen,
and at least four people listening in.

Those are the times
when you have to strip back.
Drop the professional air
and embrace vulnerability.
(Whilst of course, remaining totally professional)

Inhabit a role,
yet be you.
Connect
with raw emotions,
so others
Can connect
with you.
To.
the.
second.

⭐
You see?
It's never
'just talking'.
Your ears deserve more than that.

⭐"A,wriggle of puppies."

"Is that actually what they're called?"

🤣"No, I made it up, because that's exactly what they were!"

Like a brain fuzzing with ideas, they didn't stop moving.

Seven weeks old & curious about everything.

Wheeled through the busy Food & Drink Festival, winning hearts as they went.

💡It's good to be curious, don't you think?

To ask, what happens if I......

And maybe to try it,

whatever it may be.

That's how we grow.

That's how our businesses grow, too.

⭐I'm voicing projects now that I would never have dreamed I'd be voicing even 5 years ago, never mind back when I started.

Go at your own pace.

Life's a marathon, not a sprint.

And the only person you're really competing with?

Yourself.

⭐So, keep on wriggling!

And maybe you'll find a juicy bone.....

And if you're not in a wriggling kind of place,

💡Do you every feel that life's speeding up?

Well, it's been one of those weeks.

😬Oh & Neville Longbottom ran into a fence! Thankfully just a little scratch & a bit of a shock.

🐾Yep, he's feeling the shift too, as we train him not to run after every dog he sees. Tough love is indeed tough, isn't it? He's doing really well though.

☀️So, here's to embracing the shifts.
☀️Here's to the sun
☀️The light
☀️And the people
☀️And animals
☀️Who bring it into our lives.

What the f**k have whales got to do with anything?!💥
Stick with me & prepare to be moved...

That's my job. To move you. To make you feel something. Because that's what we remember - how we felt. And that's what leads to action.

❌This isn't about statistics, likes or vanity metrics.
✔It's about our planet
✔And the beautiful beasts who share it with us.
✔It's about responsibility.
✔Making a difference
✔Helping to solve a problem

❤And it's also about love.
❤Love of the natural world
❤And a genuine love for whales, dolphins and our oceans
✔Plus, an understanding that without them, we're in big trouble

⭐When Whale and Dolphin Conservation (a global charity that does incredible work) wanted to raise awareness about the effects of chemical pollution, I was there in the flap of a wing. Whales make my heart sing!

✔We may not always remember the details, but we do remember how something made us feel. So, WDC needed to make the film not only hit ears & eyeballs, but hearts, too.

⚡It was a privilege to help them do just that by voicing this campaign for them & collaborating with some me of my favourite animators.

(And no, it's not my usual accent, because this is the moving story of Lulu, an Orca from the West Coast of Scotland.)

Life's a Gas- Bev part 2

Well, it wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of festive nonsense from the voiceover booth, would it?!

I was chatting to a lovely producer about lockdown & how it had been for him. The more people I talk to, the bolder that rainbow becomes. We've all had low points, whether it's being frustrated by children, unable to go out filming, furloughed, or in my case, discovering that my Grandma had been cremated without anyone being informed. I know. How the heck....?! But there are highs, too. People are re-calibrating & finding that they can actually pursue the path they've dreamed of & make it work! Quality time with family (OK, it may not be quality all the time!), cleaner air, louder birdsong. Beautiful, unexpected jobs from clients old & new & a deeper, more meaningful human connection. The first few weeks of lockdown were filled with corporates, on holds & medical projects. But now, people are beginning to start filming again & TV & radio commercials are slowly creeping back into the voiceover booth, which is a good sign. Wishing you a satisfyingly sunny weekend, making moments.

Greetings fellow home workers & isolatees! How are you doing?I'm loving the creativity being shared on here on social media - virtual concerts, ironing boards for desks, team boxing via zoom etc. I'm looking forward to attending a virtual yoga class this evening. Perhaps this will be the moment this little bird actually flies, who knows?! It's a tough time for all of us, so I thought I'd open the door to the booth & share a bit of laughter. Yes, I'm known for being professional, all my clients say it, but hey, I'm human too! And sometimes a peculiar name, a typo, an inappropriate phrase & yes, l lose the plot! So, I thought I'd share a giggle in the hopes that it's more infectious than this wretched virus. Wishing you good health & positivity!

I promised you two new reels. I always deliver on my promises. So, here’s the first one. The wonderful Rick Loynes donned his hard hat, put is head torch on full beam and descended into this little bird’s mine of audio from the last year or so. Undeterred by the volume of material, he set to work, weaving his magic... We hope you like it!

Proof that life isn't perfect.

Sometimes, you look at social media & sigh.... Why does everyone else's world seem so perfect? But of course nothing is perfect, we're all human! So, in order to prove that I'm human too, and that working together can be fun, here's a little outtake for you that caused the producer with whom I was working, much hilarity. I should add that it was last thing on a Friday and we were both a little bit hysterical at the end of a busy week...... (Regular vocal warm-ups & you too can make silly noises!)

It's been a hot week. Sleep has been scarce. Time to escape to an alternate universe! I love variety, so it's always a joy when something a little bit different lands in the inbox....

I believe in 'meant to be'. There are people I have met, places I have visited, things I've done, that have awakened a curious sense of recognition, a familiar golden thread, an Alan-Partridge-esque "Aha" moment! Those people have always gone in to play an important role in my life. Perhaps we knew each other in a parallel universe, who knows?! You might just think it's optimistic thinking. Either way, I'm grateful for those people, coincidences & synchronicities in life, some of which have saved my bacon & helped to save that of others' too. This was a little work 'meant to be'. No lives were saved, but it gave me a lovely, warm, fuzzy feeling. A Voiceover to publicise the book Dear Mrs Bird. This Starling is looking forward to reading it! Thank you Voiceover Oliver, I enjoyed this one!
