🌿 Decline in meat sales comes from a centuries-old message 🌿

Polling by YouGov suggests that one person in eight is now vegan or vegetarian and overall, meat consumption is down by 14% compared to 2012.

Whilst the cost of living, veganism and change for the environment must be taken in to account, credit must also go to the Vegetarian Society whose promotional work began after its formation in 1847.

🌱10 Years of Veganuary 🌱

November saw the world premiere of It'll Never Catch On: The Veganuary Story marking 10 years from the creation of the global phenomenon encouraging everyone to 'try vegan for January'.

In the film, founders Jane Land and Matthew Glover reflect on their struggles and surprising successes; celebrities Chris Packham (pictured left), Jasmine Harman (pictured right), Kellie Bright and Jane Fallon reveal how taking part in Veganuary changed their lives.

Does the government really understand these figures? 🏥

Just a few weeks ago a headline read, 'Major illness for 1 in 5 by 2040'. Yes, 20% of the English population will be suffering from a serious disease, according to the Health Foundation's REAL Centre and the University of Liverpool.

Why? Primarily because of obesity and its result in creating other serious consequences as one ages.

The BBC criticised for 'pro-organic bias' 🌱

Scientists at a sustainable farming think tank (Science for Sustainable Agriculture (SSA)) have submitted a complaint to the BBC about alleged pro-organic farming bias.

The allegations sent to BBC Director General, Tim Davies are in relation to farming in the BBC’s online Bitesize revision guides. The SSA letter to Mr Davies calls on the BBC to remove or correct these misleading statements.

Emissions from fossil-fuel based nitrogen fertilisers used in intensive farming are contributing to the climate emergency.
