My warm up shows for my Edinburgh festival show run of 'Naked Confessions Of A Recovering Catholic' start this weekend 22nd/23rd June in Haslingden ( 4.30pm matinees) and Rawtenstall (8pm) plus bar. Tickets

later@ is bringing something a little bit different and very intimate to Haslingden and Rawtenstall in Rossendale at the lovely Ninja Coffee. No more than 40 people in a beautiful little space. Think New York/LA troubadour style or Tiny Desk at NPR.

Photo just says Manchester 1969 . My educated guess would be it's either Hulme, Moss Side or Brooks bar end of Old Trafford . I know what we called that home made vehicle ( made my first one aged 7 - ) in Manchester - but what did you call it where you grew up ( used to find the old wheels abandoned on the street or on the crofts or general wasteground)

As a kid did you rank local swimming baths by how warm the water was
1. Stretford Baths ( warmest but no changing rooms , lads got changed behind a canvas strtched across the balcony :-) )
2. Urmston Baths ( but so much chlorine in water made it look like you were wearing blue eye shadow)
3. Chorlton Baths ( gets plus point because open sunday mornings but dirty )
4. Trafford Park baths - so cold it felt like it had been filled from the cold water tap in your back kitchen in December

Well for those of us on here who are of Irish extraction , I have to confess I feel like I've been living in a cave for the last 10 years not to know of this fantastic and genius Irish singer songwriter . This song she wrote sounds like some traditional song written in the 1950s or something. So resonant . The genius of Lisa O'Neill- Rock The Machine

About Mother's Day for those us who no longer have mothers that are around .

Reminded of more 'inadequacy ' today as i put away my Xmas decorations. My longest oldest mate Pete Burgess David Burgess helped me put them up , and spent ages untangling my £9.99 lights. He suggested when I put them away I wrapped them around a piece of cardboard. I asked him where he got this kernel of wisdom from ...he said his dad ( Eddie or Ted) who went to St Lawrence's in Hulme with my mum. He asked how come I didn't know :-) forgetting we never had lights on our tree growing up :-)

The The Guardian northern editor Helen Pidd , totally misunderstands Manchester culturally ( no surprise there ) and says if she hears New Order Blue Monday again , she'll move to Leeds - which is at least 20 miles closer than the part of Lancashire she was born and grew up in . She fails to mention the insult to Manchester's the late Denise Johnson by having Primal Scream play at Chanel party in Manchester after what those scum suckers did to her - mind this is the same guardian that published a photograph of Mary Pearce instead of Denise in her obituary . Took them days to sort it out on line and still refused to apologise , pretending it was a mix up , rather than a lack of journalistic standards or just knowing stuff

Big things are happening with Chanel and Factory International, but we hear Blue Monday a few too many times

Very sad to hear of the passing of poet Benjamin Zephaniah, fascinating bloke. Represented something very important . First met and interviewed him back in 1986/87 for BBC Radio Derby back stage at Derby Playhouse before he did a gig there ( with a proper band ). Sissay Lemn Lemn Sissay Henry Normal Mike Garry - Poet A vivid memory was talking about this poem by the great Mutubaruka. He just lit up when I brought it up .
