Who else hates telling people how they can buy from you?!

🙋‍♀️ hands up. Don’t worry you’re not alone.

We get it it can feel super cringe-y. But the thing is by not doing it you’re losing out on so much potential business.

Because here’s the thing…

People are busy. They don’t have time to spend hours trawling through yours or potential competitors websites and content to work out how they can work with you.

They want finding a solution to their problem to be as easy and pain free as possible.

By not telling people how they can do business with you, they won’t change from a follower to a buyers mindset. Because they’ll have no idea what services or products you provide and how they can enquiry or purchase.

It’s time to start tooting your own horn and telling people how they can work with. Otherwise they’ll continue to consume your free content and never take the next steps to become a paying client.

Fed up of spending so much time creating content?

Here are some simple tips you can start doing to help save you time so you can focus on the parts of the business you love 😘

- instead of turning up each day and posting something on the spot. Use a planner to plan your content in advance and align it to your business goals.
- spend time brain storming ideas. Keep a pad with you so you can jot down ideas whenever inspiration hits you.
- decide in advance the type of content you want to create. Try and mix up what content you make by making the most out of all the features the platform has to offer.
- batch similar jobs together like creating graphics or writing captions as this will help you stay focused.
- plug your content in your planner so you can see what your content will look like spread across the week.
- use a scheduler to schedule your content in advance this will free you up to build your community and engage with your followers.

Still in need of some help? We’re going to be dropping our own digital content calendar really soon (like in a couple of weeks soon!) to help make planning your content super easy. Be sure to get on my mailing list (www.socialwithheart.co.uk) to be the first to find out when it launches and grab yourself an exclusive discount 😘 honestly our mailing list get treated like royalty.

PS don’t forget to save this post for later 😜

Yesterday marked exactly six months since I launched Social with Heart (thanks Facebook for going down so I couldn’t post this yesterday 🙃).

I remember it well, I'd always wanted to start my own business but had always let self doubt and fear get in the way. It was Easter weekend and my husband had just told me about an article he'd read about a woman who'd built a six figure business using her skills to freelance, and he turned round to me and said you can do that. (Side note: although I wouldn't turn down a six figure salary my goal was to build up enough work to match my salary in my full time job.)

I don't know what pushed me to take the leap of faith that had been holding me back, whether it was my husbands belief in me or hearing about someone like me was creating a career that I was wishing I could do, or maybe it was a mixture of both them things.

But during that long bank holiday weekend I got to work and created a website, told friends and family of my plans and launched Social with Heart.

And here's what I've achieved in them six months...

- Worked with 24 clients
- Drunk numerous amounts of coffee
- Created 554 client social media posts
- Six website designs
- Four brand designs
- Managed 12 social media accounts
- Launched a podcast and a YouTube channel
- Grew my team from one to three (and soon to be four!)

There are two reasons why I'm sharing this with you.

The first is it's so important to look back at what you've achieved, whether that be in your business or personal life. We can so often get caught up in the fast pace of everyday life that we can forget how far we've come.

And two, if like me you've been letting self doubt and fear get in the way of doing something you'd love to do. This is your sign to take that leap of faith and give it a go.

I have no regrets, I'm constantly learning, there are challenges but that all adds to the fun and I can't wait to see what the next six months has in store for me and Social with Heart.

What does being authentic really mean?

We hear the term thrown around a lot recently, with lots of professionals, brands and businesses feeling the pressure to squeeze themselves into this new buzzword.

But if you don't know what being authentic really means, it's very hard to move yourself towards authenticity.

By definition: "Authenticity means you're true to your own personality, values, and spirit, regardless of the pressure that you're under to act otherwise. You're honest with yourself and with others, and you take responsibility for your mistakes."

Put plain and simply it's not something that can be faked, because it captures all the things that are really important to you and this feeds into your business and brand.

What stops you from getting in front of the camera?

Video content is one of the most engaged with content as it's easy to absorb and helps people create a connection with you and your business, as it makes you more relatable.

Here are four reasons you should create video content for your social media:

- It's a fun way to create content that you can put your own spin on.

- It makes you and your business relatable and engaging, which helps build your know, like and trust factor as it makes you more relatable and shows the human behind the business.

- It gives you the opportunity to show your brands personality in a creative way.

- It's a great way to connect with a new audience, as well as connecting with your current audience in a new way.

Do you incorporate social listening into your social media strategy?

Sarah's story demonstrates how when businesses incorporate social listening into their strategy it can really make a difference to a customers / clients life. It can:

- help you build strong relationships with your customers and clients.
- gives you a bigger picture of what people are saying about your business (who may not have tagged you in their posts).
- it helps you find customer / client stories that you can use to tell your business' story.
- it gives you the opportunities to go the extra mile with your customers / clients, like Joules did for Sarah.

For those of you who don't know social listening is, it's the process of understanding the online conversation about your business, as well as your products and services, by monitoring digital conversations and interactions on social media to evaluate your business' perception and customer feedback.

I'm planning an online webinar that teaches you what social listening is and how you can apply it to your business. If you're interested in receiving more information about the event let me know in the comments and I'll get it sent over to you as soon as the final details are confirmed.

08/09/2021

The key to building a loyal and engaged audience is creating content that directly speaks to them.

To be able to do this you need to have a deep understanding of your business and who is your target audience. If you're trying to talk to everyone, ironically you'll end up talking to no one.
Knowing exactly who your audience is, what makes them tick, where they hang out, what their interests are and what they're passionate about, all builds an important picture on how you can connect with them on a deeper level and grow a loyal community who love what you do.

Here are my top three tips on how you can connect with your target audience on a deeper level.

- Use the same language they use, this will help them realise you're talking to them. Read posts and comments from your target audience and pick out words and phrases that they use regularly to tailor the language of your posts to resonate with them. By using the same language as they do it positions you as relatable and show you are on the same wave length as them.

- Make your audience feel something. Think about the content you engage with, chances are the majority of the content you react to will have evoked some sort of emotional response from you. Content that creates an emotional response gets more engagement as it creates a personal connection with the user and that piece of content.

- Have inside jokes that your audience will instantly get, that they will relate to and go "that's me!" or "I've done that." Do you target a specific industry, or is your target audience a particular demographic? Chances are there will be things within that industry or demographic that the majority of people who fall into that category can relate to. Maybe it's something customers always ask a particular profession, maybe it's something from the past that evokes a sense of nostalgia to a particular age group.
Use these opportunities to show your audience you really get them and know who they are.

If you're struggling to pin point who your target audience is and need some help, head over to my website (https://socialwithheart.co.uk/freebies) and sign up to my mailing list to be the first to know when I launch my target audience finder guide. It takes you through step by step on how to narrow down your target audience and really delves into who they are and what makes them tick, so you can understand and connect with them on a deeper level. Think of it as a key that'll help you unlock how to create content they love and so you can grow your business.

Do you ever feel like no body is listening to you on social media?

With the amount of content the standard user sees in a day it can be very difficult to stand out from all the noise.

One of the best ways is to establish yourself as an expert in your field online, as this helps to build your authority and shows people why they should listen to you.

Here are four easy ways you can start today to build authority on social media:

1. Share your knowledge through your own story and personal experiences.
2. Use testimonials and your clients and customers stories to share how you can help your target audience.
3. Get yourself out there by volunteering your time and sharing your knowledge on other peoples platforms.
4. Make time to connect with your audience by offering opportunities to have genuine conversations with them.

It's stories like these that show it doesn't matter how big a company is they can still care.

Airbnb are working with charities and aid workers on the ground to co-ordinate a resettlement programme which will provide free housing to 20,000 Afghan refugees.

"For these 20,000 refugees, my hope is that the Airbnb community will provide them with not only a safe place to rest and start over, but also a warm welcome home." - Brian Chesky, founder and chief executive of Airbnb.

We hear the phrase 'be authentic' throw around all the time at the moment, but what does it actually mean? Being authentic to you and your business is something only you can do as its all the things that make you and your business what it is. Authenticity is not something that can be faked and when you nail it you'll notice you'll attract your ideal client and connect with them on a deeper level.

Here are five ways how to be authentic online:

- Don't follow trends that don't align with your brands identity or target audience.
- Share your unique story and journey with your audience.
- Don't copy or compare yourself to other brands / businesses just because they seem more "successful" than you.
- Connect and build genuine relationships up with your audience.
- Let your values and beliefs shine through everything you do.

Did you know that what we do online has a big impact on climate change? Here are 5 ways you can help reduce your digital carbon footprint:

- Unsubscribe from emails that don't bring value to your life, and make an effort to reduce the amount you send. One email is estimated to produce 0.000001 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. That doesn't seem like much, but if you consider that the average person sends ten unactionable, 'unnecessary' emails per week, it soon adds up.
- Set your default web browser to . They're a search engine that donate 80% of its profits to non-profit organisations that focus on reforestation. It considers itself a social business, is CO₂-negative and claims to support full financial transparency and protect the privacy of its users.
- Reduce how much time you spend online. Instead of spending hours scrolling could you replace some of that doing activities that aren't online, for example reading, spending time in nature, exercise, crafts and playing boardgames. Not only will this help the environment it'll have a positive impact on your mental health.
- Use a plant a tree app to offset your carbon footprint, we use which enables it's users to plant a tree everyday in regions that need it most across the world to help offset your carbon footprint. Their tree planting projects create local jobs opportunities, reduce air, water and soil pollution and bring communities together.
- Streaming video content uses an incredible amount of energy, for example it's estimated that for every half-hour watched of Netflix accounts for 1.6kg of CO2, the same as driving nearly four miles. Where possible try downloading video content instead of streaming it, or why not try and reduce the about of video content you stream.

Content buckets are essential to growing your business online as they help you to align your content to what you want your audience to know you for. They also help make planning you social media content easier as you know what topics you need to focus on, which will help to reduce overwhelm.

For example Social with Heart's are:

- Social media marketing
- Personal branding
- Human connection / story telling
- Introvertedness
- Wellness (having a healthy relationship with the digital world)

Let me know in the comments what you think your content buckets are?

You're spending too much time worrying about the algorithm.

But the reality is if you're focusing on creating great content for your target audience the algorithm won't matter (read that last sentence again to let that sink in).

The algorithm will constantly change and adapt, and by always worrying about what it's doing you're neglecting your audience (the people who are actually going to buy from you!).

So when you plan your content start putting your target audience in the centre of it. What will they love to see from you? what problem do you solve for them? What content will connect with them?

By nailing content your target audience loves the algorithm really won't matter because your followers will love what you're doing which will create a snowball effect, as they will be engaging with your content because you'll be making it for them!

Things change on Facebook all the time, and it's hard to keep up. That's what I'm here for!
Here's whats working on Facebook right now:

1. Lives are your biggest opportunity for engagement by 3x.
2. You're missing a huge opportunity if you're not using your personal profile to link to your business page.
3. Don't push your stories through from Instagram post them directly through Facebook to see more engagement.

We're feeling this mood. Does anyone else feel like this when a new social media platform or feature takes off?

There can often feel this pressure and sense of urgency to jump straight onto new things in the fear of missing the boat without little thought into how it fits in with your business or audience. The next time a new feature or social media launches before jumping in blindly take a step back and have a think... will this suit your social media strategy? Does this align with your business' identity? and is it suitable for your target audience?

It's important that everything you do aligns with your business and your audience otherwise it'll fall short and your audience will not engage as it won't feel authentic to you and your business.

Instead of jumping on to new trends think to yourself how can you use this new feature or platform to connect with your target audience in a way that's true to you. If that's different to how other people are using it that's okay! Give it a go anywhere and see how it lands with your audience. You'll probably discover the people you're wanting to connect with will love it because you're being true to yourself and your business.

Today I am sharing my best tips for Facebook to help you to improve your engagement.

1. Go live! We know this can be scary but out of all of Facebook functions lives have the biggest engagement potential by 3x. Start small and aim for one a month to help build your confidence.
2. Post your content when your target audience is most active online eg if your target audience is mums then posting during the school run is not a good call as they won't see your content.
3. Engage with everyone who takes the time to engage with your content. Respond to comments and thank people who share your content.

These tips will help get you started, but if you want to make increasing your engagement easier then I'm here to help.

Drop me a message to book yourself in for one of our social media channel audits. You'll learn exactly what's holding your channel back as well as actionable steps to help you move forward. I only have three spaces for these left this month and I'm excited to get started and help you get more engagement.
