sits right on the Cornish coast and has all the usual attractions you might expect... That said, there is something that makes this place memorable..

Tintagel castle in its setting, and the bridge that leads to it is spectacular enough but the crowning glory is Gallos - the masterpiece by the Welsh artist, Rubin Eynon that stands at the high point...

I have seen many photographs of it but to stand before it, with the rugged coastline all around you, is an experience to be remembered.

Whether you believe the story of Arthur or not, the bronze sculpture all but radiates a sense of power and place.

A shot that captures the imagination can be taken in all weathers.. this one, is taken from a path above the very wonderful Lanhydrock House (Lanhydrock National Trust).

All the mist and light rain added a real atmosphere....

Capturing a live performance has an energy all its own.... Even better when one of the musicians in the band uses one of your shots in their latest album...

There are all sorts of reasons why photography is a chosen path for me. This image is absolutely at the heart of them. I have seen this tree before but only a little way off and in the corner of my eye.

On this visit to Boulter's Island, with a winter sun beginning to thaw out the frost, I saw the sunlight shining out from the chrome branches and I thought to find out about it.

Ooh. "SANDs" - a charity - "Stillbirth and Neonatal Death".

We don't have kids.. though I do know a few that have tried but circumstances were such that they were denied parenthood.

This memorial is a wonderful thing. So many leaves - each with a name. And all of them together.

The leaves I found arresting.... so were the spaces left for more to be added.

... and the evocatively named "Sandlings Trail". A glorious place in to visit.. made all the better when the sun sets the autumn colours ablaze...

This fallen tree was a perfect spot to sit, look around, and be still for a wee while.

A visit to Chatsworth House on a glorious day in Autumn. The grounds were spectacular and seeing artwork like this, made the visit even better 😊

RHS Garden Bridgewater... I watched the TV program about the restoration of this place... and how the pandemic tossed a spanner into their efforts...

Well, their efforts have produced a wonder..

Gardening is not really my thing but walking through this place was such a treat...

If Autumn colours look like this here, the Spring must be a riot..

It was SO good to attend the Buxhall and Shelland Church Fete once again... and to see so many folk roll up and have a glorious day...

This is a shot taken in the early morning - a few hours before everyone arrived. Such a still, peaceful beginning to a summer's day..

Top right is the Tea-Tent... as usual, it was destined to be VERY well attended :-)

I tend to hang about when the farmers are out, all hours, harvesting - it is all but certain I'll see one of these magnificent creatures appearing out of the crop...

Wondering what it is that has disturbed their safe haven no doubt.

Maybe this is a form of anthropomorphism but there is something very comforting about how the turn of the seasons 'c***s a snoop' at the wanton displays of posturing, and worse, going on around the world.

I have walked this stretch of the Orwell many times and seeing this tree (and others) so perilously close to brackish water, made me think of a word not widely used in conversation.

Entropy.

Little surprise the word is rarely used since it is wrapped up in the Second Law of Thermodynamics. As to its meaning, it is often characterised as the "degree of disorder or randomness in a system". The greater the disorder, the higher the state of entropy. Entropy increases over time.

So how, in the name of Ned, is it relevant to this image?

This tree, decades-old, must have started life a long way from the shores of the Orwell River and a few metres above it, to have reached the size that it has attained.

So when I see this, I see a demonstration of entropy - how it increases with time. The passing years and the ebb and flow of tides have broadened the river and eaten away at the sands so that now, this tree is in a precarious state.

While "entropy" was in my mind, it did not blind me to how beautiful this stretch of the river is.

Fanciful stuff... I am sure but I was somewhat taken by this wall and doorway on a recent visit to Cambridge...

What came to mind was one of the last scenes in Ridley Scott's Gladiator...

Just me? Or do you see the same... Assuming you have seen the epic, of course :-)

Cambridge... A city with so much to see. The great colleges have much to offer for the visitor but I almost prefer to find the places that are almost not seen as you pass through them to get somewhere else...

This is Trinity Lane.. almost Dickensian..

Setting up for the Gig

It had been 2 long years since I covered a live performance... So when the time came for Feast of Fiddles to arrive at The Apex for their long-awaited return, it was wizard to be there to capture the event. This was done in two parts... a timelapse of the setup and then stills during the gig. Hard, hard work lumping all the gear about but I loved every minute of it. Even better, the band is delighted with the results... I hope you enjoy what you see :-)

On the video side, I have been working on a series of testimonials.. It was remarkable to see and hear how Annya's Pain Relief Clinic and #Acupuncture had made such a difference to the folk I interviewed. Bernard's story was something more. An army veteran from past conflicts in the tropics, he was invalided out after a grenade attack... Listen to his story.
