Toytronic

Toytronic London based independent record label providing Electronica at its finest. (Est. in 1998 by Martin Haidinger & Tony Douglas)

The Toytronic label was founded in 1998 by Martin Haidinger (aka Gimmik, Low Profile Society, Num Num, etc.) and Tony Douglas and at the time of the first release Chris Cunningham (now the current label owner) was working at Sister Ray records in Soho London. Chris was introduced to Martin and Tony by Jem Dodson, their connection at Sister Ray and he played a major part in the growth of Toytronic,

acting as a mediator between the 3 guys and helping to start the music venture that makes the label what it is today. A lot of changes happened around Toy 5: Chris Cunningham (aka Point Seven), joined the label with Toy 5, and Tony left the label after Toy 5. Distribution also changed with Toy 5 to Southern Record Distribution (SRD); the first four releases were distributed by Metropolis Record Distribution. All graphics for every release except Toy 17 done by Martin Haidinger (the credit does not appear on most of the actual releases).

Rest in peace, Arni.
You will be loved 🤎

It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to our dear friend, mentor, and the founder of Möller Records, Árni Grétar—known to most as Futuregrapher. Words feel inadequate to capture the depth of our loss and the ache in our hearts. Árni’s departure leaves a void that cannot be filled.

Árni was one of the most compassionate and generous souls to grace this earth. Despite facing challenges and obstacles that most of us cannot fathom, his love for people shone brightly. He was always ready to give—be it his time, energy, or encouragement—and never hesitated to cheer others on when they needed it most.

We first crossed paths in 2011. I had just finished an album, feeling uncertain and overwhelmed, unsure of what to do next. I had heard of Möller Records, a small, independent label that championed all kinds of electronic music. Nervously, I reached out, and Árni responded almost immediately. From that moment on, everything changed. Árni and Jóhann, his label partner at the time, took me under their wing and brought my first album to life. Árni’s unwavering encouragement gave me the confidence to keep creating and sharing my music. Not long after, I became part of the Möller Records family—a group of people I admired, who became some of my closest friends.

Árni was the heartbeat of it all. His boundless creativity and fertile imagination inspired countless ideas, many of which we had the privilege to bring to life. Together, we toured Iceland, bringing electronic music to places it had never been heard. We hosted monthly events in downtown Reykjavík, traveled and performed abroad, and released music that meant the world to us. True to Árni’s vision, Möller Records became a launchpad for countless artists starting their creative journeys. Árni was always there, at the forefront, encouraging everyone to create and share their art. Inspired by his example, I have tried to carry forward his spirit of generosity and support.

Árni’s music will live on forever, but even more enduring is the legacy of his kindness, generosity, and boundless love. Rest in peace, my friend. Our deepest condolences go out to your two beautiful sons, your loved ones, and your family. You are deeply missed by so many.

Your spirit will remain in our hearts always.
