🏰 Albrechtsberg Palace in Dresden was built in 1851 for Prince Albrecht of Prussia, a brother of the later Emperor Wilhelm I.
See more: https://www.ganjingworld.com/s/WkZ6mKGnvR
💔 Albrecht was forced to go into exile (Saxony was considered a "foreign country" from the Prussian perspective at the time) because he was divorced and had remarried to a second wife from the lower nobility. This was a real scandal in the House of Hohenzollern and in Berlin, which was extremely strict at the time. 🍀 For Saxony, which was traditionally much more liberal when it came to matters relating to the love life of the nobility, this was - from today's perspective - a stroke of luck: thanks to Albrecht, Dresden got two palaces that would actually be better suited to Potsdam or Berlin. 🎨 The architect was Adolph Lohse, an important student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The typically Prussian, late-classical forms still seem exotic today in Dresden's architectural landscape, which is actually shaped by other traditions. ❤️ Albrecht could not have chosen a more suitable building site; it seemed to be made for unconventional, romantic love affairs. 🌈 Before the castle was built, the Scotsman James Ogilvy, 7th Earl of Findlater (Findlater's Vineyard), lived here in a palace. Lord Findlater, who loved men, had to leave Scotland for this reason. Like Albrecht later, he had a happy partnership here with his partner Johann Georg Christian Fischer.

The history of fortifications in Będzin dates back to the 9th century. Already then, a stronghold was erected on the Castle Hill , probably belonging to the Vistula tribe or its western branch.

🏰 Waterkasteel Hof van Veltwijck
🇧🇪 Belgium

The Hof van Veltwijck is a castle in the Ekeren location located to the municipality of Antwerp, located at Veltwijcklaan 27.
The building date of the castle is not known, but in 1548 no report was made of a castle, and in 1564 there was already a Speelhuys, Opperhof, and Nederhof. It is assumed that the construction took place on behalf of the then resident, Aert van Veltwijck.

The castle was uninhabited during the siege of Antwerp (1584-1585) and fell into disrepair. Military inundations took place in the years that also caused damage to the castle. In 1638 the domain was purchased by Geeraert Fyens and it had the castle secure against the water, but only when the Ekerse d**e was constructed in 1649-1650 did the flooding risk.

In 1754 the domain was purchased by the Antwerp merchant Cornelis de Winter. Around 1905 the castle, commissioned by Baroness de Borrekens, was raised with a floor. In 1929 it came to the municipality and in 1930 it was put into use as a town hall. Part of the park was parceled out and the rest was open to the public.

De Haar Castle, located near Utrecht in the Netherlands, is a magnificent example of restored medieval architecture juxtaposed with luxurious 19th-century interiors. Originally built in the 14th century, the castle underwent extensive renovations in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by architect Pierre Cuypers, known for his work on the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Cuypers envisioned De Haar as a grandiose revival of its medieval glory, incorporating Gothic and Renaissance elements into its design.

Surrounded by immaculate gardens and a moat, De Haar Castle is striking from every angle. Its interior is equally impressive, boasting opulent rooms filled with ornate furniture, tapestries, and artworks collected by the Rothschild family, who inhabited the castle during its reconstruction. Visitors can explore the castle's Great Hall, adorned with coats of arms and a massive fireplace, or marvel at the intricate detailing of the bedrooms and dining areas.

Today, De Haar Castle stands as a testament to architectural vision and historical preservation. It offers guided tours that delve into its rich history, from its medieval origins through its modern revitalization. See more: https://www.ganjingworld.com/video/1gttfjlfvis5NEPFZGtI5TzSs16i1c
The first castle was built here in the 10th century. It was made of wood. The present-day castle has been owned by the same Menthon family since late 12th century. Most of the buildings in the castle were constructed in 13-19th centuries. On the whole it underwent two major reconstructions: in the Renaissance period when it was made into a cozy palace and in the early 19th century when it was remodeled to meet the neogothic trending standards. Legend has it that Walt Disney was inspired by this chateau (and not Neuschwanstein) when designing his Sleeping Beauty castle. The 23rd generation of the same family lives in the castle but they keep their residence open to tourists.

Château d’Étoges, originally a medieval fortress, transformed into a charming 17th-century residence known for its elegance. Once a fiefdom of the d'Anglure family, it hosted François I, Louis XIII, and Louis XIV. Built on a hillside with multiple springs, it initially served strategic and practical purposes, feeding a potable water network and moats. The d'Anglure family held it for four centuries.

In the 17th century, the fortress was modified to accommodate royalty, with Louis XIV noting its advanced water features. Following the Revolution, the château changed hands multiple times and was downsized. In 1922, Robert Neuville restored it, and in 1991, his granddaughter Anne Filliette opened it to the public as a hotel. Today, Château d’Étoges continues to evolve, welcoming visitors to its historic yet dynamic setting.

First mentioned in the 14th century it got its famous towers, a palace and a chapel some 100 years later combining Gothic and Renaissance styles. The Habsburgs laid their hands on the castle in the 18th century and made it an administrative point that was ravaged by a massive fire which destroyed lavish wooden elements. It is said that notorious Dracula’s protagonist Vlad the Impaler spent some time in the castle as a prisoner.

Fantastic towers, turrets and slate roofs with lead spires of Chateau de Jumilhac – one of the castles Richard Lionheart was so eager to seize during the first Anglo-French conflict. The castle in the town of Jumilhac-le-Grand in Périgord Vert, in the north-east of the Dordogne department is now privately owned. It is under permanent restoration and open to visitors. The current castle was built on the site of an old fortified fortress in the XIII - XIV c. It was remodeled during the Renaissance and later restructured. Interestingly, Antoine Chapelle, a wealthy local ironmaster, married Marguerite de Vars, the heiress of half the domain of Jumilhac, in 1579. He financed Henri de Bourbon in his quest for the throne of France. When he became King Henri IV, Antoine received the title of Count of Jumilhac.

Château de Potelle, or Castle Potelles, is a feudal castle located in Potelle, Nord department, France. Registered as a historic monument since 19 January 1944, it retains much of its medieval character with robust sandstone masonry. The castle is protected by wide moats fed by springs and the Rhônelle River. Its irregular polygonal enclosure is reinforced by cylindrical towers and features stone mullioned windows and numerous arrow slits. Originally, it had a drawbridge, portcullis, and defensive towers, which were later modified to accommodate fi****ms. The castle's former outbuildings were damaged by fire in 1640, and a round tower includes a prison with latrines above the moat. The small tower at the end of the main building, initially cylindrical, was destroyed in 1793, and the early 18th century saw the opening of the courtyard to the park.

Caerphilly Castle🏰☘️🏰 is a fortified castle in the town of Caerphilly, in south-east Wales, built between 1268 and 1271 at the behest of Gilbert of Clare, 7th Earl of Gloucester (1243-1295), lord of the March of Glamorgan and later enlarged, until 1326. It is the largest medieval fortress in Wales and one of the largest in Great Britain (second only to Windsor Castle) and Western Europe. The castle was built in 1268 by the lord of Glamorgan Gilbert of Clare, 7th Earl of Gloucester, one of the most powerful barons of England, who, in close alliance with the English king Henry III, had driven out the lord of the area Llywelyn ap Gruffudd ap Rhys . The construction, which began on 11 April 1268, lasted 58 years. From the 15th century on, it slowly fell into disrepair. During the English Civil War, an attempt was made to blow up one of the towers of the castle, which, for this reason, still hangs on one side.

🏰 Schloss Wörth , Germany
Wörth Castle is a castle in the town of Wörth on the Danube, Thuong Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria. The castle is located next to the 3rd Highway 3 on a mountain in the middle of the town.
The majestic castle in the Renaissance style has the characteristics of a fortress, fully preserved and is one of the largest castles in East Bavaria. It returned was a hidden place from the 10th century (around 914) and was rebuilt, expanded over the centuries and gained the current appearance in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The castle was remodeled into a Renaissance style from 1522 in the 16th and 17th centuries. Most of the new buildings were built under the management of Count Palatine Johann III. (1507–1538). The castle is managed by caregivers and used as a summer place for bishops; Sometimes they move their own headquarters completely. The castle survived the war for thirty years without great damage. In 1803, this region fell into the new Regensburg.
On July 26, 1806, Prince-Prince Karl Theodor Von Dalberg, the last prince of the Empire, signed the Rhine Federal Act in the king's room. In 1810, "Wörth's free empire rule" came to the Kingdom of Bavaria. In 1978, Johannes Prinz Von Thurn Und Taxis sold the castle to a construction contractor, and in 1984, it was bought by a castle community, in which Regensburg district was the most important. From 1985 to 1998, the entire palace population was comprehensively renovated. In 1988, the castle was hired by an elderly person and now has a retirement of Pro Seniore in the castle.
Wörth Castle is part of Regensburger Burgensteige. The inner yard of the castle can freely come in and out during the day, not inside the building. Visitors with guides are organized to view them. In addition to events organized by the project "Kiw - Culture in Wörth", the round room is also used to organize the wedding. The castle tunnel has been renovated by Regensburg in April 2005, also used by "Kiw - Culture in Wörth" and can also be used for other big events. "Schlossgalerie Wörth" in the basement of the old castle reserve occasionally organizes exhibitions.

The southern side of Schlossberg was a vineyard for a long time, until the first World War, the production of Baierwein was worth about seven days. There was a zigzag staircase that led to the castle there since the 1930s.

𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗨 𝗗𝗘 𝗟𝗔 𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗕𝗢𝗡 (𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘-𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘) | Between prehistoric caves, a Gallo-Roman village, Merovingian tombs, and the remains of an 11th-century castle, it's safe to say that the castle of has far from revealed all its secrets. From its "remarkable gardens" to its elegant Renaissance style, let's discover together this delightful residence bordering the Bruant river! 😍

The castle as we see it today has undergone many transformations throughout its long and rich history. Jehan II de Latour built two residential wings around 1475. Soon, a beautiful Renaissance-style residence emerged, surrounded by sumptuous French gardens, envisioned by Jean-Louis de Courbon in the first half of the 17th century.

But by the 18th century, the gardens were somewhat neglected. In 1817, the estate was sold at auction. In 1920, a certain Paul Chénereau responded to a call from the writer Pierre Loti published in Le Figaro, and began significant restorations of the castle. The gardens regained their splendor between 1928 and 1939, while the castle was gradually refurnished! A "sound and light" show was even conceived in the 1960s. However, as the entire site was built on marshland, the gardens sink a little more every year... The solution? From 1976 to 2000, no less than 3000 piles were driven to support the gardens.

🏰 𝐋𝐀 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐄 (Gironde): Mostly known as the birthplace (1689) and residence of the famous writer and philosopher Montesquieu, this historical site offers a window into the architectural and cultural evolution of the region, while celebrating the legacy of one of the most influential figures of the Enlightenment.

It stands as a classic example of Gothic architecture, surrounded by moats and built from the 14th century onwards.

The writer Montesquieu wrote much of his work here, including "The Spirit of the Laws." The estate was classified as a historical monument in 2008.

Historical Evolution:
The first mention of the site dates back to the 11th century, with significant reconstructions and modifications occurring over the centuries, particularly after the damages of the Hundred Years' War. In the 17th century, the castle became the property of the Secondat family, to which Montesquieu belonged.

Since 2004, the castle has been managed by the private foundation Jacqueline de Chabannes, dedicated to the preservation of Montesquieu's heritage.

Architecture and Facilities:
The castle reflects medieval defensive characteristics with its moats and fortified structure, while incorporating later residential elements. Montesquieu himself made improvements, notably to the exterior, with the addition of a French garden (with parterres and grove) and an English park.

Key Points:

Montesquieu's Gardens: Inspired by his travels and vision, the gardens reflect his taste for aesthetics and functionality, blending French and English styles.
Montesquieu's Library: Although the original books have been transferred to the municipal library of Bordeaux, Montesquieu's chamber and library are preserved, offering insight into his working environment.
