Hi everyone,

A London-based digital production company is filming a series of corporate videos for an internal training for one of our clients.

We need an experienced production assistant local to the Belfast area for a 2-day shoot next week (May 30 and 31). They will be operating an autocue/teleprompter, so we need someone tech-savvy. Preference will be given to people who have operated an autocue in the past.

They will also support the cast and crew as needed - coffee runs, rigging, de-rigging, getting lunch orders, etc.

Excellent written English is also a requirement as they will be expected to edit the script on the fly if and as needed.

More information and scripts will be shared with the selected candidate.

We are preparing for an exciting shoot near Bushmills and we’re on the lookout for talented individuals!
If you have relevant credits and are available on April 30th and May 1st, we want to hear from you.

Roles available:
- runner driver (25+)
- Camera Operator (familiar with Alexa Mini/LF)
- Camera Assistant
- Sound recordist
- Catering van (catering for 15-20 people)
- Drone operator (Inspire II, FPV, license required)
- Gaffer ideally with own lighting
- On set medic

All roles are paid, with food provided on set. We are friendly and close team, so a positive attitude and a great personality is a must! Please note that due to early morning starts, individuals will need to be from Bushmills/Belfast areas and have their own vehicle or ways to arrive on time. Unfortunately our budget doesn’t allow for accommodations.

P/D - Excellent shooting skills, worked on reality/ob doc formats previously
DV Director / Shooting AP - previous experience shooting ob doc / reality style with a PD.
Runner - Managing rushes and location experience essential, driving would be a bonus.

Dates: Currently the shoot is w/c 8th April for 5 x days, but there is potential for some filming the w/c 25th March so would be great to know if you have availability over the Easter weekend.

Help get this petition spoken about.

We want the Government to do more to support UK TV and Film Crew who are unable to work due to strikes by actors and writers. The UK freelance crew who work on these projects need financial support and reassurance from the Government that they will not abandon the crew during this crisis.

I saw this post on another group and I was wondering what you all think of it?

Dear SAG Members,

We look after you. We work through the night for you. We beckon to your every call. We make you coffee and clear up after you. We empty the toilets for you. We pick you up and drive you to work. We cook lunch for you. We make sure you are safe. We do this to keep you happy.

We change the course of the juggernaut that is the shoot to accommodate you and your availability. The cancelled holidays, missed weekends with friends and family, eighteen hour days have left our souls changed, but never broken.

We freelancers lost our livelihoods in the pandemic. We adapted, we tested, we swabbed, we masked, we fogged, we cleaned, we isolated, we bubbled to get the industry back on track. We did this to keep you safe and to keep the show on the road. We fought and we won.

We are not the camera crew who take all the glory and the awards.

We are the support crew; The Locations Managers, the Production staff, the runners, the drivers, the security guards, the cooks and cleaners, the carpenters and painters.

Today we lost our jobs for you.

PAs, Drivers and Art PA needed for July 23-26 filming in Ballycastle for a low budget short film funded by an Actress/Director. Short film could lead to more funding and possible filming in NI.

Normally I would not put up a post for a short film. Not because I am against them (Far from it I wish I could get some NI Screen funding) but because I don't like how people are quick to attack when people give their opinions on the rights and wrongs. But as this one is made to help a charity I shall break my rules.

Looking for a Spark to join our lighting crew (which includes already a Gaffer, Spark, and Lighting Trainee) for a short film shoot developed with partnership with Belfast mental health charity Lighthouse on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th June. The rate is £125 per day plus travel and we're shooting at Ballycastle.

Back in 2009 I was not happy working in London, not feeling like I fitted in to the landscape and wanted more from life. I felt I needed to have a work life balance which is impossible in London and that NI might give me that. I applied for many jobs, flew over for many interviews to be told I was not quite right for the role and I was very close to give up the industry.

Then all of a sudden I was getting job offers from all over the place, turning down work as I was that busy. The past few years have been crazy for all of us, the ups and downs of work have taken a toll mentally and I know that many will be thinking is this way of life really worth the stress.

Recently I have been flying over to Belfast a lot and getting the last flight back on a Sunday evening to London. Have flown this route over 100+ times it had dawned on me that there was something different lately and that is I have never been on an airplane where it has been so multicultural ever before and seeing so many people with Belfast merchandise.

There is only one reason for this change and it is the Television and Film Crew of Northern Ireland doing what they do. I don't think there is another industry that has brought so much showcase to NI (Do tell me if there is and I shall apologize), changing peoples opinions of what NI is like and getting people talking about how friendly and great a place it really is.

It is a ruddy confusing time right now with all the productions being pushed back, cancelling filming and not knowing if their names are Arthur or Martha. But try to remember as much as this industry messes you about the impact of your work is so important. You might not feel like it is as not many gets the praise they deserve but the gift shops of Belfast need us more than ever to keep hoping and dreaming.

Say Nothing, a major new adaptation of Patrick Radden Keefe’s book about a notorious murder during the height of the Northern Ireland troubles, is gearing up for a lengthy UK shoot.

I have been chatting to a few people today about the lack of filming in Belfast right now so I am going to give my take on it as I do near all of my work all over the UK.

Lately everyone I have been speaking to from crew in the North of England and in London have all said the same thing which is this year is quieter and there are not as many bigger jobs knocking around as there was last year. I feel a big reason for this is as Netflix's have said themselves they need to start making less to ensure quality instead of creating so much **** (Last word is my take on what they wanted to say) which is going to have a knock on effect.

Personally I have been working all over the UK this year and I have been getting less phone calls for work which has hurt my ego. I have been saying for the past few months that I feel September is going to be when things kick off but sadly it does not seem to be the case.

I have seen NI Screen hard at work promoting NI (Even at one talk I was not meant to of been at) and I dont think they will be giving up on trying to bring things in. But I feel that the bubble of having so much work around might of got a little bit smaller. So I hope everyone is doing ok and fingers crossed things kick off again soon as great watching repeats of Sunny is I feel that the money going to Netflix's might have to go to my Percy Pig fund.
