For the first time in a long time 45105 was started today. As with anything that has been inactive for a long period of time it was never going to be perfect on the first try. A few gremlins in the system but nothing some fault finding won’t fix. Onwards and upwards from here!

33035 will be out this Saturday- 22nd April

Diesel fans, don’t forget that all Leeming Bar to Leyburn trains this Saturday (22 April) will be diesel locomotive hauled! Our class 33 (33035) will be running 4 trains from Leeming Bar to Leyburn.

Departures from Leeming Bar will be at 09:30, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30.

A visit today to Wensleydale Railway to carry out a pit exam and a reblock on 33035 on its day off from Polar duties

33035 will be out tomorrow (Thursday) with 37250 in operation Friday and Saturday and D9523 in operation on Sunday.

Time for the second update in one week!

As said in the previous post, the alternator has now been removed and is at bowers. Work can continue with cleaning and painting the surrounding area, along with all the other fittings before the generator's return. 45106s silencer was removed with its badge still attached and placed into storage! Interestingly the crank on the engine said x45060!
105 has now been shunted into position until after the beer festival! 🍻

We have been a bit quiet on the update front recently, so time for update post.

Work on 45105 has progressed well, starting with the cab. work inside of the cab and outside of the cab have progressed with No1 end very nearly complete. Few remaining jobs left.

Before the cab lino is down we are waiting the return of the engineroom exhauster and compressor from Bowers, after being sent away for overhaul and testing. The engine is now stripped after freeing all liners ready for new O rings and refitting. The Turbo/silencer/air box/intercoolers are all ready for removal to allow the Genny/alternator to be sent away for clean,dip and bake at bowers, this will hopefully be happening imminently.

45105 is now outside ready for the Barrow Hill beer festival in a few weeks time.

45060 - still remains outside at Barrow Hill but work on the armature is progressing.

33035 - Still continues to work at Wensleydale as and when needed

As you can see from the photos 45105 will now carry the Tinsley snail at No1 end, not many locos carry this unique feature this one did for the last year of service and now part of its History.

It is also of note 5 years since the 33 community lost the great John Frood so let’s hope he is us there smiling and listening to his favourite engine getting a good work out in the Yorkshire Dales
