Not a bad end to a run
Quick shot I wanted to share from a trail running assignment in New Zealand a couple of months ago.
This is possibly my favourite shot I’ve ever captured. A solitary trail runner crushing a ridge line trail in the depths of no where, Iceland.
It’s not my favourite because of the shot complexity or the kit used (which is what I often get eluded by) but the story behind it and the story it tells.
This is Spencer, our male athlete from last years Outdoor Research expedition. Yes the run was staged but the hike to this remote location with the inspire on my back and the weather closing in was real. The pursuit of capturing ridge line shots has become some what of an obsession and I love it. Doing this with a great team who are just as passionate and having to physically and mentally push ourselves to get these shots is what makes them for me.
P.S. @natgeo, if you’re reading this, please send me on a 12 month assignment filming adventure sports along ridge lines in far fetch locations. Many thanks. Phil
Did you see that cool drone shot of the Mustang GT drifting round Substation Corner on The Grand Tour the other week? No me neither, it didn’t make the cut. But here’s the BTS of it
We have an exemption to fly at night!
The days are growing short which used to limit our operational hours, but now that we have an exemption to fly at night, we can fly at anytime. Day or night.

Harvesting In Sussex
Just a little something from when we filmed harvest at the end of summer this year.
It was late afternoon and the sun was low which made for some beautiful long shadows and back lit wheat dust clouds.
[For those observant ones... Yes, we have already shared this with you but we're experimenting with uploading directly to Facebook]
