A further update on the Avian Influenza situation:
There has now been a confirmed case in Rosesudgeon near Penzance, so we are in the APHA surveillance zone. This means we will be remain closed to any new birds for now, but will continue to watch the situation closely and liaise with our colleagues at APHA.
We need to give our feathered friends at the hospital the best chance of surviving, which means keeping them safe without introducing new birds.
We're so sorry we won't be able to help at present however, we can still give advice over the phone, via email or social media.

‼️16 DAYS OF ACTION ‼️

Cornwall is uniting to combat violence against women and girls now and all year round!

The 16 days of action against gender-based violence campaign will take place from Monday 25th November until Tuesday 10th December.

Safer Cornwall are working with their partners across Cornwall and the wider peninsula to deliver lots of free events and training activities.

They will also be ‘popping-up’ in the community with their partners working in domestic abuse and sexual violence support services, health and policing.

Come along, have a chat and discover the amazing support services available.

There will be a Safer Cornwall gazebo next to Humphry Davy Statue on Monday 25th November from 10am until 4pm

Tonight and tomorrow night, we are lighting the Mount red to mark Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day 🌺

Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.

We’re excited to share that Penlee House is joining the thrilling fun of the 2024 ! 🎃👻 Rosebud may be the cutest competitor in this competition, but we are not kitten around!

What is Rosebud's story? 🐈‍⬛⛵️
In 1934, Newlyn joined the Penzance borough, leading to slum clearance. In 1937, fishermen and artists protested by sailing the boat 'Rosebud' to London. Mary Wallis (nee Matthews), then a child, sent her toy cat on the Rosebud since she couldn't travel with them. We are very grateful to have Rosebud the cat on a long-term loan. The Rosebud PZ87 Memorial Project.

We hope she can claw her way to the top in this competition, but we need all your votes to have a chance.

If you could take a moment to vote for Penlee House and share the post, we would be so grateful! ⬇️

Free Monthly Magazine

“Proudly born and raised in Penzance and with a strong background in local media I launched the Penwith Eye in April 2017.

I felt that there was a definite gap in the market for a monthly magazine showcasing everything Penwith has to offer and with the increasing popularity of free distribution magazines I wanted to provide businesses in Penwith with an effective and affordable advertising platform at a fraction of the cost of local newspaper advertising.

We distribute 10,000 copies of The Penwith Eye every month throughout the Penwith area. The magazine is free of charge and consists of 40 pages of local stories, events, adverts, classifieds and things to do in the local area. We showcase everything that makes Penwith great including Food, Art, Health and Beauty, Attractions and Accommodation among others.” - Laura Jewell
