[ What is TRUANT ? ]
A platform for discussion, expression & participation. A publication dealing with society, arts and culture, politics and current events – alongside the creative interpretations and opinions of our contributors. By enlisting like-minded creative people to speak and share their opinions on current events using whatever practice they choose to articulate them with, TRUANT
combines their experiences and insights in a format which educates and informs the reader – our demographic is ‘all’; primarily the ‘youth’ – about todays social, ecological and political culture. TRUANT aims to create a platform to engage, inspire & incite peaceful revolution, for everyone and specifically our generation – deemed dispassionate, but truly a disillusioned, desensitised and consequently demotivated generation full of potential, but undervalued and relatively inactive in society today.
[ Why do we need TRUANT ? ]
a) There is a huge gap in the market – in society in general – for a publication that acts as both a relevant, interesting arts and culture info-‘zine’, as well as an informative, inspiring platform for participation, awareness, valued insight and change. b) Young people today are neglected from the political arena, and are discouraged from being active participants in a government which has made the arrogantly short-sighted decision not to invest more time into politics - and the arts - in our current education system, when it will soon be in the hands of our generation to replace our current parade of politicians. WE MUST PUT OUR HEADS, HANDS AND VOICES TOGETHER. There are three core beliefs of TRUANT:
ONE. We only publish what we believe in. We do not discriminate. We are powerful as a passionate, compassionate, non-judgemental whole; a community of diverse creative people calling for peaceful revolution. We respect everyone’s opinions. This respect contracts us to hear out diverse points of view – however vastly they may differ from our own.
