From the 16th December Delta will re-launch its flight service to Curaçao, providing a Saturday-only service from Atlanta to the lively Dutch Caribbean Island for the first time since 2010. Building on its leading position at its largest U.S. hub, Delta will be the sole airline providing direct flights to Curaçao from Atlanta, while also enabling customers from over 100 U.S. cities access to this tropical destination through convenient one-stop connections.

By unveiling this new route in conjunction with its largest-ever holiday schedule, the airline continues to cater to winter season demand across Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Flights to Curaçao will operate on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring First Class, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.

August 12, 1977 - Space shuttle Enterprise was released in flight from the 747 Space Shuttle Transporter.

After reaching an altitude of 24,100 feet, The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft pushed into a shallow dive. At 8:48 a.m., Fred Haise fired the seven explosive bolts holding the two craft together, releasing the Enterprise on her first free flight.

After gliding at 185 MPH, for a total of 5 minutes, 21 seconds, Enterprise successfully touched down on Rogers Dry Lake.

Although not officially recognized, Enterprise was named in response to a massive letter-writing campaign by Star Trek fans to then President Gerald Ford requesting that the orbiter be named after the Federation Starship Enterprise NCC 1701.
