Colour coding multi births - Emma's experience as an Identical Quadruplet !
We like to explore the differences between us as hosts, most notably our different childhood experiences with Elliot as an only child and Emma as an identical quadruplet - which is quite unique!
And so we did a whole podcast episode chatting about Emma's experience as a Multi Birth. Series 1, episode 8. ❤️
If you've not listened to it in your little ears yet - we'd recommend it! A great episode to get to know more about us as hosts and our stories.

Back to work 3 months after having a baby.
How did you find going back to work after being off with your first child? Did you survive working when you're so tired and not sleeping?!
We were different to most as we both work from home and could flexibly work around a baby. But also Emma works for an international company based in France, so followed the French maternity of 3 months off with full pay. (we get plenty of other perks through Emma's job though!)
How long did you have off on maternity or paternity leave?

How do you deal with sugar and healthy eating?
We did baby-led weaning, but still seem to have ended up with a toddler who's a picky eater! 😅 It's slowly getting better, but we do often resort to sugar and limited success with fruit & veg!

Have you seen The Sign yet? An emotional rollercoaster! ❤️ Such a beautiful Bluey episode...
What did you think?
Our daughter (almost 3 yrs) sat and watched through the whole half hour episode.

Maybe controversial but we're pro screen time! What old shows have you shown your little ones? Do you miss puppets?
This was part of a conversation where we discussed kids TV and how it's changed since the 90s (S01E03). We miss a lot of the old TV for children, but then we do have great things like Bluey. Lilly has also really got into Puffin Rock.
What shows do your kids watch?
As a podcast we're pro screen time. We're not here to shame or judge. Sometimes as parents you just have to survive! And our daughter watches a fair bit of television. We balance it with playing outdoors and lots of creative activities. But screen time isn't inheritantly bad - Lilly learns so much from watching Bluey.

Do you or did you use cloth nappies?
(We didn't, but were inspired by Fran to give it a go in the future)
How do you navigate being carbon / eco friendly as a family in your decisions?
Also, painting of Psyduck.
And remember... Don't wake the baby! Shhh...
Sleep well.

What are your potty training stories?
As with everything, you have to pick your battles as parents - and for us, we this was an area we chose to prioritise. There were (and are) other things we haven't done so well with... But potty training has been one of our successes, and we'd encourage you that you can start anytime!
Of course parenting, and surviving, with babies and toddlers always seems to get in the way!
But you don't have to wait. You can toilet train from birth (or like us from 6 months). Or any age.
Of course we recognise we've been very privileged and blessed to both work flexibly from home and didn't need to send our daughter to childcare till she was over 1 (when she was already out of nappies). Everyone's situation is different, which can make it harder to achieve.
It's a challenge isn't it?!

Do you include sustainability in your decision making?
This was a great episode chatting with Fran, eco enthusiast and mum of three, about being environmentally conscious as a parent - and encouraging us that it doesn't have to be all or nothing!
Have you listened to it yet? (Episode: Cloth Nappies) What are your thoughts or experiences? Did you learn anything - we definitely did!

How often do you clean under your sofa and what's the grossest thing you've ever found?
Making the most of the increased time limit on Instagram - it was always difficult fitting a full story extract from our podcast in 90 secs! The down side is that with a longer video, Instagram didn't want to do the captions 😔 Sorry about that. Make sure to have sound on!
We shared this story at the beginning of our episode on Childbirth where we talked about our induction and C-section journey with our first baby. Every episode we share a "Parenting Achievement" (fail / relatable moment) - what level have you unlocked this week?
It was also my first go at needle felting, where I tried to make something that resembled Charmander... It went ok to begin with, but I ruined it near the end! (Take a look on YouTube to see!) Or check out the full conversation on Spotify or wherever you get Podcasts in your little ears!

Potty training with babies - watch till the end: as mentioned this isn't to show off about our success, but to showcase a different experience and journey.
When did you start potty training? Or did you do elimination communication from birth?
We'd love to hear about your experience!

Love this Bluey quote from the episode "Chess" in season 3.
What's your favourite Bluey quote or episode?
For us:
Emma's favourite - Sleepy time
Elliot's favourite - Flatpack
Of course we have an almost 3 year old so have started with things like numbers, colours, words, etc. but with little ones it's important to remember that academic learning isn't the most important. Work on hearts first ❤️

This is an extract from our podcast episode on Creative Play - discussing Montessori and Waldorf. We're big fans of these styles of learning, and are wondering how we will get on with school system when Lilly gets there in a few years...
Do you have children in primary or secondary? How do you find it?
Emma and I have talked at length about whether we homeschool or look at other options. But time / finances are a big consideration. Do you homeschool or have advice for us on how to decide?

What makes us unique? We're a husband and wife sharing parenting, and hosting a PodCraft that's equal parts funny, relaxing, and relatable - we're not experts. Just some normal (debatable!) people sharing our experiences to kickstart the conversation. Oh and we like arts and crafts - plus Emma is an identical quadruplet, so that's pretty unique. Elliot is just a bit eccentric! 😅🤣

Does your little one always want carrying or is it just us? 🙈
